It’s clear France could do a lot more but wasn’t it you who posted about CAESAR when it was being deployed, nothing came out before it was seen on the front. From a country who will only send defensive weapons which they themselves describen as weapons limited to 3km (i.e eyesight distances).
I think you’ll find France are doing a lot more than is being gloated about, as they aren’t gloating like others. I don’t think even after years after this conflict is over what I suspect to be the main French contribution will have been reveiled.
Of course their ā€˜Red Cross’ and other humanitarian and emergency services help is well documented.
Btw those CAESAR’s were still in Foriegn legion ā€˜home’ camoflage.
Yet yes I am disappointed in France and haven’t a clue about Germany, that’s other peoples business.
I am however also concerned about other nations flauting and gloating, I find that so distasteful, unnecesary …, but hey that’s me.

Do you think we’re about to see a co-ordinated tactical retreat by the Ukranians ? (I’ve already seen reports of individual units falling back.)

I don’t think it’s a matter of gloating? I’m guessing it’s more of a reference to the economic sanctions. Note the extreme reluctance of French companies to pull out of Russia, the CEOs telling the Russian subsidiaries that they will be back shortly, and the claims that Macron advised them that they wouldn’t be out very long.

Or the German reticence to cut its dependency on fossil fuel imports from Russia, despite the economic assessments showing that it can be done for not that high a human cost, at least relatively to what Ukraine is suffering.

Sounds like the UK is about to send Ukraine some much heavier weaponry.

I don’t know about the gloating. Who is gloating apart from maybe Boris Johnson ? At the most, you have commentators praising several states for what they are doing. Then Germany and France gets a lot of criticism in that context, often by the same people and in my opinion, for very good reasons. They are Europe’s largest economies. They deserve the criticism. I don’t understand your point, and certainly, the boasting you find so revolting, I have not seen anything of. And of course it is ā€œour businessā€: People are right to be critical, to say that what Germany is doing is just their business is a very strange view where you let all criticism off the hook and I you can’t possible mean that. But maybe I didn’t understand you properly.

Anyway, if there is gloating, which I haven’t seen, then it is positive rather than negative anyway. It shows someone is sending enough aid to boast about it, and that’s just positive. If they hadn’t been sending a lot, they could not have boasted or gloated or what not. Not that I have seen states boasting. Who is gloating anyway ?
