I’ve started the second season of Bloodhounds.
I thought Hijack S2 was rubbish. You don’t get more of a run of the mill than this.
I thought Shrinking S3 was good…kinda had more of a Friends vibe to it, not as good as S2 but then again S2 moved me in more ways than I thought.
Now I’m a bit deflated going into S3 of Euphoria.
Just finished watching season 1 of Tehran. Talk about stressful, more twists that chubby checker’s back catalogue! Wife can’t wait to start season 2!
I heard good things but never tried it. I might give it a try after finishing the stupidity of S2 monarch. It takes some really cheesy material to bring that bad a performance out of Ana Sawai
…and that to me friends, is what makes this forum great ![]()
There is a lot of media attention on the long awaited return of Euphoria for S3. I’d never watched an episode so barely even knew who these people were who have been getting so much attention. I knew Zendaya and I knew Sidney Sweeney, but the latter only a social media culture wars totem not as an actor. So I gave it a go and I’ve been really surprised at how good it is.
Something else I recommend is Widow’s Bay., Matthew Rhys’ new one with Apple. Its very Stephen King coded but not in a way that feels like a rip off or a cheap copy. Rhys is the mayor of an island town in New England trying to drive more tourism to the island while ignoring all the stories about its troubled, spooky past that maybe explain why the residents have been content for the island to not get much attention. It’s only 3 episodes in but they have been absolutely brilliant.
Yeah, I started watching this at the weekend. Had seen it labelled as a mystery so was expecting something more like a murder mystery, not a supernatural/ horror but it’s been fun so far with that King/ Carpenter/ Lovecraft atmosphere.
I’ve been taken by how genuinely funny it is, but how it gets in those laughs without breaking the growing horror vibe. Its a tough line to tread.
The scene where he meets the NYT writer at the history center and refutes the stories of cannibalism only for a huge frame to be shown behind him depicting stories of cannibalism had me roaring laughing.
Yeah, that bit was great.
Treated myself to a Crunchyroll subscription as I didn’t realise how cheap it was; guess the anime market isn’t as big yet so they aren’t doing the netflix/disney approach of price increases/adverts etc. yet
S2 of Freiren was great, but too short. One of my favourite shows at the moment and a real quality comfort watch.
Solo Leveling was better than expected, and well worth a watch. The concept is perhaps a bit silly, but I’ve really enjoyed how they’ve dealt with it. Interested to see where it goes
Witch Hat Atelier is beautifully animated and I’m enjoying the plot, but I can’t lie the accents in the dub are getting to me. Might have to watch future episodes subbed not dubbed. The English accents are mostly not awful (a Sean Bean impersonator aside), but the Irish and the Danish are garishly bad. Hopefully the original Japanese voices are less grating.
Happy 100th birthday to our national treasure and the world’s most famous naturist and guardian angel of our planet, animals and plants.

I think you meant naturalist.
He can do both if he wants
I just finished watching the first season of Animal Kingdom and I’m not sure if I want to watch any more. I imagine they’re the kind of unpleasant characters who stormed the Capitol.
At least he knows how to say “penguin”.
Wonder how he felt sitting next to William, a bloke who likes to hunt deer and wild boar and shoot birds.

I haven’t been with it this week. Let me hide now!![]()
There is a special programme on the BBC to celebrate his 100th birthday.
I have to admit that I’ve been let down by the last season of The Boys. Maybe the final will partially redeem it but the writing has been unexpectedly weak for a show of such magnitude and such great early ideas. The scope of the show (in terms of characters and their stories) probably expanded beyond the point where the writers were able to control it, so they ultimately filled the fifth season with cliched dialogues instead of trying to add some real depth.
In other news, Pluribus looks amazing so far. I’ve only been able to watch the first three episodes but I’ve been amazed so far, even if it initially looked like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, only… Well mannered, kind body snatchers?
