Oh my gosh, the second half of 100 years of Solitude was released last week 
Feels like 100 years since part one.
Iâll watch it. Enjoyed it so far. Obviously the book is above and beyond, but they did a decent job of it.
Watching the new adaptation of âMy Brilliant Careerâ. Another great book, and an excellent film with Judy Davis and Sam Neill.
Not bad, but a couple of things that jar. Firstly, Chris Chung is hard to see as anything else but Roddy Ho. Not his fault, and silly of me, but unavoidable. Secondly, the anachronistic soundtrack. Modern pop in a story set at the beginning of the 20th century doesnât work for me.
This is absolutely brilliant. Just from the overview of the plot its clear its going to be heavy show, but it gets really grim. But it is so well done, with some amazing moments of lightness to lift the weight as needed.
The woman who made this was previously best known as the creator and showrunner of the New Girl. The pivot from that to this is astonishing.

Iâm close to finishing the latest seasons of Silo and Reacher and am looking forward to the new season of Slow Horses starting soon.
My wife started watching âWonderfoolsâ without me, a Korean comedy/ drama and from the episodes Iâve seen it looks great. About a group of people who discover they have super powers but donât know how to use them.
Silo is so disappinting. I dont entirely get why Im still watching it, other than there only being 1 season left and I feel I need to see it to the end. But this season has been another slog, with the only remotely interesting thing being the before times flashback. But what happens inside has become (always was?) so boring.

Currently watching Inspector Ricciardi on All 4. Italian period detective drama. Set in 1930s Naples with a slight supernatural twist, itâs good viewing. Some similarities to Inspector Montalbano if you enjoyed that. An interesting link into the political landscape in Italy at the time too.

Possession on Sky looks very good. I had to stop watching though as I donât much like watching these very dark shows with depictions of historic cruelty.
I had moderately high hopes for Stuart Fails To Save The Universe. Started out well but has been underwhelming for me. Iâll still watch as Iâm a huge TBBT fan but Iâm disappointed.
Silo. This series has ruined it. So far from the books. Please read the 3 books. Brilliant.

Finding Ted Lasso S3 pretty disappointing. The show probably needs to be renamed Rebecca and Keeley at this point. Ted is no longer the main character, heâs taken over a womenâs team but we only have surface level knowledge of the new players.
Meanwhile the main storylines appear to be Rebecca, who has been presented as one of the richest people in the country, as now hating the womenâs team because it is unlikely to make a profit. Rebecca has often throughout the show been shown to not care at all about money but is suddenly terrified of a relatively tiny loss? Itâs very contrived.
Also not interested in the Rebecca/Matthjis love story - or at least not as much as the show seems to think I am. Same with Keeley and Roy. Roy has been stripped down to be completely without personality or character and is just a puppy-dog waiting for Keeley to take him back - heâs supposed to be coaching a Champions League team they couldnât at least show him as some level of competant? he also works in the same building as Ted, the man who gave him a chance in coaching and left him the job after finishing 2nd, but theyâve spoken maybe once in the first 5 episodes?
By this stage of Season 1 we had great insight into Jamie Tartt, Roy Kent, Sam Obisanya, Coach Beard, Nathan Shelley, Rebecca Walton, Keeley Jones⌠and most importantly their characters were introduced based on their relationship to Ted who is supposed to be the main character! Yes we eventually get more fleshed out and independant storylines but it always comes back to Ted.
This season Ted is on the outside of the story looking in. The womenâs team has barely featured, we know almost nothing about them and Ted seems oddly disconnected from anything happening.
For that reason none of the emotional moments are hitting home. We donât even really understand what level the women are playing at. Theyâre a brand new team and had to host open tryouts just to fill up the numbers but then they went undefeated in pre-season, against opposition described as âlesserâ, and then the emotional moment was supposed to be a rousing comeback against Chelsea that they nearly win but since we havenât built up any relationship with the team or players it just didnât hit at all and for me just added to the confusion. This team is made up of random women who happened to be available for a tryout but they also are better than everyone they play against and are so good they almost beat Chelsea in their first real game?
So far my knowledge of the womenâs team is - one person who went to the tryout has a kid (and was immediately made captain), the goalie doesnât wear gloves, the two CBs are sisters and fight each other a lot, the star striker was brought in from playing 5 a side with friends and doesnât get on with the assistant manager. Thatâs it. No characters have really developed yet after 5 full episodes. They barely even have names.
I hope they tighten it up across the rest of the season. Itâs still fine, itâs just disappointing considering where the show has been in the past.
Itâs unfortunate that a show that is attempting to make a point about womenâs sport being looked down on by the general public, that it thinks so little of its cast of female sports players it canât even be arsed to properly define or introduce them.

@Limiescouse, @redfanman, I finished The Studio - it took me a week but I felt I watched in one sitting. Iâm normally not too big on comedies but this one had me in stitches (come to think of it, between Widowâs Bay and this one, I had some genuine laughs). This is quite possibly Rogenâs magnum opus, I donât know if he can match this for the rest of his career but I will hope for it. The way they tackled a few serious topics while managing to turn them humorous in such an intelligent wayâŚ
A special mention and one thing I was completely unaware of is that this was Catherine OâHaraâs last appearance of her career - I canât believe she managed to pull it off with such illness troubling her.

Iâve just finished the second season of âThe Gentleman.â It was a bit slow at first, but then it really picked up steam, and I ended up watching almost the whole thing in one go. Itâs a shame itâs over for now; the wait for the third season feels like itâs going to take forever.

Walesâ Matthew Rhys becomes the first man to ever win two lead acting Emmys in the same year, and with his prior win for the Americans is now the only man to win in all 3 lead actor categories (drama, comedy, and limited series)
One of my former colleagues lives in his Brooklyn neighborhood and occasionally sees him around. Ive been teaching her welsh sayings she can casually say to him in passing the next time she sees him. One is ânice dogâ (Ci da) because heâs often walking his lab. She just texted me 20 minutes ago to say she walked past him but chickened out because the dog was pooping and didnt think it was appropriate to praise the dog at that moment
