It sounds like a large tranche of the ‘exceptional costs’ were related to the Ratcliffe share purchase/takeover, and non-cash. Probably somewhat comparable to the massive writedown LFC took on ‘stadium assets’ that G&H were carrying on the books but did not translate to any real value - and very unlikely to be remotely comparable to the massive overspending that Toon, Forest, and Everton were headed toward.
