I suppose it doesn’t change your mind that he’s been quite good defensively for essentially the vast majority of our games this season, nor that Jürgen has already explicitly said that Alexander-Arnold is getting a lot of criticism for decisions the coaching team has made.
Most teams seem to target our RB when Trent plays there and they are doing it for a reason. His game is getting forward but he’s slow to get back and isn’t great at thinking defensively. Not helping these days that Mo has been less inclined to track back either. We’ve been getting away with it because Konate/Gomez have been decent in covering RB when Trent is out of position.
WhileTAA offers us nothing defensively other than another body at RB,his attacking ability does offers us an extra option from which to create goalscoring opportunities. The cut and thrust of the EPL is too much for him defensively which is why i think he’ll fit RM like a glove.
If Bradley can stay fit and we can find a suitable understudy,i’d be inclinded to take 20MP from Madrid this month and let TAA off if that’s what he wants.
I think Ramsay has been recalled already but only to find him a different loan club.
BBC sport top 3 articles.
There’s definitely a media agenda against him, from the World Cup and before, and some of our fans have got sucked into it.
Can understand why he’s considering a move to the sun
Uhh…
On this, he was until his injury, since returning and Conor getting injured he is back to being poor and that has also come as he seems to be pushing into midfield more than staying on the flank
I totally agree, but what I don’t understand is why Arne has been praising him for his defensive work as apart from the Man City & Madrid games he hasn’t been tracking back, interestingly, since those games our defence has been leaking too many goals
I don’t see too much an issue in Mo not tracking back. If anything him staying forward ensures that the opposition doesn’t push too many people up front.
Trent had a shit game. He shouldn’t be getting skinned by a shit makeshift LB like Dalot.
Shit happens. Just need to get over it.
So you are happy him not helping and us conceeding, as from my above post, we have regressed defensively when he hasn’t tracked back since the Madrid game
If I remember well, Lovren got a spell on the bench after that, isn’t it? It will be interesting to see how Slot handles this situation.
Lovren was still a regular starter in that season, his probably all time best Liverpool spell came in the second half of the season when he had Virgil alongside him, who hit the ground running very quickly. Think it would take more for Slot to drop Trent, perhaps a few lower performances in a row. Which would surprise me. It’s not like Trent was the only one or one of a few who were below level the other day. The whole team was below standard without the ball and it was an unpleasant surprise how United split us creating gaps all over the pitch, very well shown by Carra last night on MNF.
It’s pretty obvious that Mo has been told to conserve his energy during games this season. It’s working pretty well for him and us. Dom has been doing all the leg work for him but obv was missing on Sunday. That, plus Konate not fully fit, also added to a bad day for Trent
Exactly this? Why is that inverted shit coming back again?
I checked the team compositions after that Tottenham game, as I didn’t remember things clearly anymore: Lovren was dropped for three games, Klavan coming in alongside Matip. Then, there was a regular rotation between Klavan and Lovren, before the latter got more regular playing time again, also due to injuries. Later on in the season, he was indeed a regular partner of VVD.
Nothing wrong with it in certain games.
Im surprised with you been so knowledgeable about absolutely everything you haven’t been employed by a Premier League club.
WTF are you on about.
If you cared to read a lot of this post I have commended Trent for the beginning part of this season for his improving defensive qualities, so wind yer neck in
If TAA has said he will make his decision at the end of the season, maybe, just maybe, he wants to see/judge what Arne Slot is all about… Is he a winner, or a numpty…!
Back in July, no-one could guess either way.
As the weeks and the games go by, we are all getting a chance to see AS in action… tactics, team selection, media etc…
Now, if AS is wise enough to know, for TAA is to stay beyond this season - the pair have to build up a strong/solid relationship, a sort of respect towards each other.
If AS had hauled off TAA on Sunday, any earlier than he did, there would be a good chance of damaging any blossoming friendship/respect between them…
If AS wants TAA to sign, then why risk fracturing the relationship before it has really had a chance to gel…!
Seen as you posted this in the post match thread, I thought I would copy my reply
