UEFA Champions League (Part 1)

Just watching Milan v Hajduk Split in the UEFA Youth League, played in Nyon. More than 5000 Hajduk fans have made the trip, brilliant support for the kids.

Just Pep and a few billion £, alone against one of the titans of European football.

If we finish 5th, and City win the CL, we get a spot, right?

Nope. It’s only the top four who qualify. The only way to qualify for the Champions League if you’re not in the top four is to win either the CL or the Europa League.

Around 10,000 have made it for the final. They’re currently 1 down to AZ.

May be tracking the police (or even Čeferin and his cronies) would be more fruitful.

what about tracking the ā€˜sponsorship’ money from certain petrostate owned clubs

I can remember that following Hillsborough there was a lot of research into the behaviour of crowds and how they move around. Much of this had a commonality with fluid dynamics.

Modern stadia have been designed with this in mind. In essence, a stadium should be inherently safe because that safety has been designed into it. If that safety is failing it is because they aren’t being used in their intended fashion - either because of fan behaviour (e.g. standing in seated areas which is something that is being addressed with railing) or because of external forces - which is what we saw at SdF last year where the free movement of people had been restricted to the point that dangerous bottlenecks were forming.

I’m not sure what satellite imaging can offer over aerial surveillance. Certainly, accepting that visiting fans will probably be unaware of the layout and local procedures, and may well not even speak the local language, would help no end.

As someone who works in tech I can say that higher ups pointing to technology to help address solutions is what they do when they acknowledge people think there is an issue but they dont really want to spend real time understanding it or addressing it.

Only worth watching for the final. :innocent:

You’re gonna regret it when you miss Madrid taking a 3 nil lead inside 10 mins.
