UEFA Champions League (Part 1)

Yeah I plumped for the Madrid match in the end.

Wow … amazing double save from Raya

How TF did Raya get to that second effort!! Retegui didn’t even head it that firmly, probably thinking there’s no way the keeper makes this.

Atalanta have got a pair of solid full/wing backs.

I was convinced Cuadrado was from another football era.

Not spoken about enough how poor both Jesus and Martinelli have been for Arsenal for a long time now. January and February respectively since they last scored.

Raum looks like a right prick.

Yeah need to beat Bologna next before we slide down the table over the following three matches and power back into the 8 after that.

I’m not sure I’m going write us off against Red Bull Leipzig to be honest.

Plus we are at home for the two hardest ties.

Yeah not writing us off in any of those games; just not confident of 9 points. I think the reality is we will likely drop places over these games given the size of the table but I expect we’ll finish strongly.

This is where individual results may come in to play for supporters.

Looking at those 3 middle games, I think a number of people would say, get 3 draws and your looking reasonably good for the final stretch.

Lose 2 and win 1 would give us the same number of points, but I wager a lot of fans would not be so optermistic.

Yeah draws really are penalised with the table and different fixtures for each club in a way they weren’t previously.

While complacency would be bad, I don’t think we have much to worry about with Bologna. Their only win this season has been against a fairly hapless Monza side, they are a shadow of what they were last season.

By contrast, I think we caught Milan at the best possible time. A big win over Inter, then another W, and they are playing with much more confidence than when they faced LFC. Bayer might be in for a tough match.
