UEFA Champions League (Part 1)

I’m quite enjoying the media love in for Gyokeres following his hatrick against City and the fact Amorin’s coming to the PL - lots of chat about his release clause (£83m), and that there’s a cut price deal to be had (£63m) for his services.

Suspect most fans of PL clubs fans have never heard of him but think he’s their answer. He’s on a great run of goals this season and did well last no doubt, but I’m not convinced he’s the next big thing - he’s no spring chicken either at 26 years old (albeit in the prime years). Sporting are probably rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of making big money for a player that they signed from Coventry in July last year for £13m. Before that he was at Brighton, who eventually sold him off for £1m.

I wonder what United will do… Gotta get their chosen one his favourite players after all.

That strategy worked out so well with ETH and his Ajax favourites.

Don’t point it out to them…

The enjoyment is in playing so many different clubs,8 different instead of what’s normally 3.
How far into the competition can we go before we meet 1 of those 8 teams again? It would be great to get all the way to the final without meeting any team more than once.

I don’t see what Gyokeres provides to United that Hojlund can’t.

Gyokeres for all we know might well be the guy who peaked a bit later than the others and hence went under the radar at Brighton and the other club.

But at United , the thought process should rather be on buying more smartly at the midfield rather than indulging Amorim to take his player.

WHY tf would he ever think it’s okay to handle the ball on the pitch?!?

Must admit I missed this serious show of solidarity in Paris (check the size of that banner !) from midweek. And it appears more significant now after the subsequent events in Amsterdam and coming before a France / Israel international this Thursday at Stade de France which the Interior Minister said will go ahead , with 2,000 police deployed. Lest anyone needs reminding , Stade de France is situated in the St.Denis area of France , home to a very large North African community , naturally sympathetic to the Palestinian cause.

Oh yeah, this was all over the media (though some did totally ignored it), and so was fury of the French sports minister.

Things will finally get a bit clearer for Top8 finishes after next week.

Some teams outside the Top8 will have two away games in the final three and might find it difficult to directly qualify.

Fully expect City to make the Top8 but would be funny as hell if Arsenal have to play the playoffs.

Maybe Slot can call Feyenoord for some hard tackling favors for Tuesday.

Let’s hope so. If we can press home and advantage now it could really be telling.

Must be a nightmare to manage Rafael Leao

I can see Fonseca getting the sack soon, dude is well out of his depth.

Also nice to see Villa and we…aren’t the only sides who concedes from our own corners.

Decent player that Leao. Nice little dink with the outside of his foot.

I’m watching Atletico destroy Sparta Prague. Currently 4-0, with twenty minutes left to play.

Mind you, we should have known that the Czechs were poor… even Manchester City managed to beat them.

He was very close to it before the derby with Inter.

What a goal by … some Bratislava player I won’t pretend to know the name of.

Some teenager named Marcelli, corker.

One of those managers that’s been everywhere, you’d struggle to name 1 club he was at in a few years down the line.

Shakhtar, Lille… Roma, I think.

When he left Shakhtar, that was the he had most rumours about him.
