That wasnt a benefit.
Ala the Atlectico Madrid game a few years ago.
Whereās the Championās League league stage money, John?
I hear you on the general state of football. The Premier League has more depth currently than Iāve ever seen, with a larger section of small to mid sized clubs punching above their traditional weight and doing well. I think that is because even though their attendances are small, they get a lot of TV money, and the collective agreement helps them too. It makes for a better league as the likes of Bournemouth can pop up, unexpectedly, and whack an in form Newcastle United, for example. Brighton and others too, Etc.
Not sure what I think about the distribution of revenue for the group stage of the CL.
The thing Iād like to minimize is some larger clubs strolling through, as they have way too much margin and can fail several times and still get through. If the income is fairly even distributed with the teams who finish at or near the top, I donāt see enough incentive for them to pull their finger out and play harder. It also potentially skews the knockout stages, as one or two teams who finished high in the group stage might get drawn against a team that finished way below their true level.
Income distribution might not be the way to tackle the issue though, I readily accept that.
Not sure what the answer is though, if the goal is to help teams take it seriously by showing their true level instead of strolling along with too much margin to not have to perform anywhere near to their best.
van Dijk, Salah, and Alexander-Arnold all pocketed it mate. Canāt do anything about that, Iām afraidā¦
He hid it in the horse? Like a piƱata?
Whereās the beating a dead horse money, John?
Most on here and who I know, say or consider having the 2nd leg at home preferable, which can then be construed as beneficial i.e a benefit.
And against Barca we knew what we had to do, the crowd were behind the team from the start and we won 4 zip
Always feels like it should but rarely feels like it has been.
Barca and Dortmund are probably two examples which would be in the plus camp.
Was hoping to not get reminders of that shit Atletico match.
Thanks a lot.
Even Bonnie Blue didnāt get penertrated like City did in the 2nd half.
I just looked up the Bonnie Blue referenceā¦
Did not know this but a draw would put them both through so it will be interesting how they approach that match.
What happens if psv get a draw against Liverpool tomorrow? I know it would be enough for Liverpool to top the group but will PSV go through with a draw?
Man City can only get 11 points. A draw gives PSV 12.
For those wondering, itās because City play Brugge.
If PSG and Stuttgart play out a draw then theyāre both on 11 points, with a -1 goal difference the worst for them. Dinamo Zagreb and City are the only teams who can still catch them. If City win, then Brugge have a goal difference worse than both, and will drop out. If City lose, then naturally they drop out.
Meanwhile Dinamo Zagreb have a -8 goal difference, so unless AC Milan really shit the bedā¦
Actually, a draw suits both teams. I wonder if Arneās got any mates at PSV.
EndÅ aināt gonna let that happen. 9-0 win for us or bust.
