Unfortunately the fans are the only stake holders who would have interest in that. For the clubs it would cut down on both overall revenue (fewer games) and make revenue more variable, and the tv companies would not consider it for the same reason.
Would reduce UEFA broadcast revenue dramatically, reduce payouts to the big clubs, and more or less open the door to a version of the super league. Definitely not going to happen
It was very much said in jest @Arminius @Limiescouse
No way they would cut the group stages - or go with the American playoff approach.
Back when I was younger I was still out on Monday.
It was Tuesday that was a shambles.
Not to bothered they arenāt too different in terms of quality to AC, the former are a young side and Inter are an older side but we have the quality to beat them. Salzburg pushed us massively a few years back so maybe itās better to take on a better side and considering Paris now face Madrid it really does eliminate one of the harder continental teams.
Ath Madrid vs MU I prefer than if they got Paris.
Havenāt played Inter since 2008 quarter final.
Beat a Portuguese side on the way to winning
Beat a Spanish side on the way to winning
Beat a Italian side on the way to winning?
Yep, been there. Done that.
Them being unfamiliar with Klopp football will be a major advantage for us.
Donāt forget we defeated Napoli that year.
Need words that rhyme with Saint Petersburg. Might need it after we win #7 there.
I would definitely rather face Lille than Inter Milan.
Still, doesnāt matter, we have got Inter and I expect us to advance, provided we do our job.
Sensible comment from the BBC websiteā¦
I really do think Uefa is making it far too convoluted by stopping teams from the same country playing each other at this stage. It instead just happens frequently at the later stages, which is when you really want your big intercontinental ties, and not domestic battles in the bigger games.
Just reading that Barella is suspended for at least the first leg of our tie
Wonder if weāll be the first team to play AC Milan and Inter Milan back to back at the San Siro in European competition?
WTAF??
Reminded me of thisā¦
Oh, no doubt. But Lille is probably the only seeded team I would say that about, except maybe Juventus.
Thatās what I meant, we havenāt beaten an Italian side yet⦠oh wait we have actually
If we are doing a 2005 and 2019 route we need an English and German side it seems
