UEFA Champions League (Part 2)

This is disgraceful. We now have to pay streaming service to watch the Champions League final. The rights owners are TNT sports and they scrapped Europa league as well. Evil, low life tossers.

We always had free view on channel 4 or Itv channels to watch the CL final. They have taken away the joy of watching football from us ‘real football’ fans.

Paramount take it over from 2027/28, probably trying to make as much money as they can before that, I note that they own channel 5 so probably see a return then.

HBO took over TNT Sports.

Last week Paramount in the US spent all week promoting the Celtic Hearts game only to decide at the last minute to not show it and move it to a different Paramount platform than not all Paramount subscribers had access to. They even left the tile up on their service for about an hour of the game leaving people just returning errors

I hope every football fan use any other means to watch the CL final this year and TNT sports lose revenue.

I just won’t be watching it

What they are doing is wrong. They are just making it impossible for fans to watch important football matches around the world.

I’m cancelling my TNT subscription immediately.

Wasn’t this one of the “crown jewel” events that had to be free to view?

I suppose it depends how badly you want to see us humiliated, if Slot is still in charge that is.

Cant blame Paramount for a fuck up by UEFA.

The final remaining free to view should have been a non negotiable position from the rights holder ie UEFA

This is HBO, Paramount take them over in 2 years and own Channel 5 so I assume thats were we will see it in future.

Probably won’t be seeing us in the CL then. So that saves me money (As I already get Now Tv on what is mates rates and they have the other European comps).

I thought Paramout owned HBO?

But either way, it is still an own goel by UEFA for not ensuring that the final be shown free be 1 of their key negotiation points.

UEFA moves Champions League final kick-off to 5pm BST

Earlier start confirmed: The Arsenal vs PSG final will now kick off at 5pm BST, moving from the traditional 8pm slot.

Fans’ experience focus: UEFA says the new time improves transport access, safety, and family attendance, while boosting host city economic benefits.

Global reach aim: The earlier slot targets wider TV and digital audiences, particularly younger viewers, and aligns with weekend scheduling.

They have their bid accepted for the HBO parent company (WB), but it will take a couple of years for the legal process to be worked through and have them actually running it.

I read an article on the BBC yesterday about the KO being moved up to earlier in the day calling it a move from “it’s traditional slot”. Bitch, there is nothing traditional about a saturday CL final.

I remember back in 2005, it was a Wednesday, I was in my car, leaving the office parking lot, radio on, heard on the radio that at Istanbul, AC Milan scored 3 goals. I was so upset that I changed the channel and did not hear the rest of the report. So, tradition on Saturday? Haa!

Yeah, I was at the school playground and very nervous pre-match. I remember some friends asking me for a prediction and I said whoever scores first wins.

No need to describe how I already felt in the first minute, let alone after the second and third… and then the total opposite.

:joy:
