You are underestimating the valuation of the Europa League. Getting to the QFs isn’t worth as much as the CL, but we actually have more coefficient points (1 more) in that season than the preceding one from getting knocked out in the CL round of 16.

With each club playing four games at home and four away, we’ll be hosting the 15-time winners Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Lille and Azerbaijani side Sabah. Meanwhile, we’ll be travelling to Munich, Seville, Naples and Prague.

This is an excellent opening stage for Iraola to get a feel for the Champions League. Facing Atlético right at the start could potentially go wrong, though—they are an extremely tough team with a terrible coach. Fortunately, at least we’re playing at home.
