As far as I understand, due to not signing Guehi , we cannot register Federico. We don’t have enough homegrown players anymore. Rio Ngumoha takes his spot crucially Rio does not fulfill the homegrown spot so it was a toss up between the 2.

Liverpool’s Champions League squad is limited to 22 due to UEFA rules requiring at least 8 locally trained players for a full 25-man list. They appear to have only 5, capping it at 22 (17 non-locally trained + 5).
Chiesa is excluded likely due to ongoing fitness concerns, as he’s still ramping up after limited play. He could be added later if rules allow.
I don’t know what to think about that tbh, this must be depressing for Fede.

There are only 17 spots for non homegrown. Because we didn’t get Guehi, we have to register Leoni, who now has Fede’s place. Or something like that.

I don’t think it has anything to do with Guehi. The non-homegrown slots are 17 and we filled that quota without Chiesa. If we really wanted him, we could have omitted Ngumoha or any other non-homegrown player.
It probably has more to do with Chiesa’s fitness levels and capacity, or lack of, to play every 3 days.

Its a load of bollox. Freedom of movement and employment between EU countries should be grounds for a case. UK teams then follow suit?

I don’t agree with the decision to leave Chiesa out. He doesn’t deserve that and doesn’t Slot realise, the Chiesa song is the only decent one we’ve got at the moment!

Makes me wonder if we are seeing a side of AS, that if true, is not very palatable… Again, it might just be me and the suspicious mind I have… but is this a tactic that AS uses when he wants a player to leave the club, without getting his hands too dirty.
As in, Quansah, Harvey, Nunez, maybe even Diaz, does he have a policy to leave them out the playing side (fuck them about a bit), in the knowledge they will become frustrated and leave the club..!!!
Just hope we are not struggling in the last 20mins of our last qualifying game, and we need a goal or two to make the top 8 or even qualify… only to look around and see NO Chiesa on the bench to bring on and stir the crowd… !
In a purely footballing sense, we can have little to complain about regarding AS. Where Chiesa is concerned, I think it will be a dagger to the lads heart to be binned like this…!!

I think Arne is of the Paisley breed - he’s a tactician who has a ruthless side. If we are looking to win the PL and CL regularly then this is exactly what we need

That may be a possibility, or it might also be a tactical choice to use the main attacking options in Champions League with Fede able to be used i the Premier League to rest whovere needs the break. By not having Fede available for Europe could mean he has potenially up to 9 games in the league that Fede can be brought in as rotation without dropping the quality too much but allows us to keep the attacking options fresh.
Or it could be a case of me talking out of my arse and I have absolutely no clue what I am talking about!
