I was about to say, we get PSG and they get bloody Sporting. Oh well, let’s see how Slot’s love for PSG translates into a performance against them.
Think I’ll be at my parents for both ![]()
I don’t see why not he managed to exorcise the notts Forrest demons.
4 out of 6 PL teams crashed out of the CL. The other two had easy opponents in Leverkusen and Galatasaray.
After the next round, there could easily be just one left. ![]()
I’ve just seen Eddie Howe putting ‘spin’ on a 7-2 thrashing. He should be a politician.
2 out of 8 is not so bad considering you expect RM, Barcelona, Bayern and PSG to take 4 of the places. 3 of the English teams were knocked out by one of those too. The EPL strength is meant to be in depth, not that they are all better than the top teams across Europe, and that was demonstrated by number of teams in the last 16. However …
… the manner in which the teams who got knocked out at this stage is relevant. They were all tonked by the opposition.
Very glad that Cheaty are out, the fuckers. And we, despite all our problems this season, are among the last remaining eight teams in the CL. Not bad, not bad at all. ![]()
we lost to them in possibly the most limp performace of the entire season at Anfield.
I was there to experience the hopelessness.
i mean spuds basically handed it to them on a silver platter. Any chance of a citeh fightback was ended by that idiot Fernandez. Take it on yourbody you absolute numpty.
If we’re gonna do it, its gonna be the hard way i guess.
Some stat this…
28 GOALS conceded for these English teams as they crash out of the Champions League. ![]()
68 goals were scored across all the eight ties… the most EVER in the Round of 16.
From the BBC
Opta supercomputer has given Arsenal a whopping 29.73% likelihood of getting their hand on the Champions League trophy, over 10% more than second favourites Bayern Munich.
Liverpool have just a 7.12% chance of landing the title for a seventh time while their quarter-final opponents and current European champions Paris St-Germain are handed an 11.87% probability.
Only Atletico Madrid and Sporting are less fancied than the Reds.
Arsenal - 29.73%
Bayern Munich - 18.33%
Barcelona - 15.66%
Paris St-Germain - 11.87%
Real Madrid - 9.85%
Liverpool - 7.12%
Atletico - 4.41%
Sporting - 3.03%
I suspect that much of that is that they are perceived as having the easier side of the draw.
I did hear somewhere that UEFA referees had been told to clamp down on English sides manhandling players at corners and set-pieces. I wonder how much effect that had on the results.
Seems Opta didnt factor that into their calculations
Favourites and favourites’ lists in the CL don’t make much sense.
We were favourites until we went to PSG last season. As @RedWhippet said it’s probably down more due to their draw.
3 of those managers could leave the premier league before next season starts.
Eddie Howe most likely to be given more time in charge.
Hilarious!!!
