Yeah, no “goal padding” games for us.
Yeah, I for sure wanted something far easier than this. I think people focus too much on a bit of travel (as long as the time zones are really close, an additional 30-50 min in a plane is not that big of a deal imo).
But we’ll have to take it. We are favorites with Madrid to go through I think. But it is not an easy group compared to what it could have been with Zenit and Brugge etc.
So Ronaldo vs Messi happening in group stages itself then?
Here it is then in full;
-
GROUP A: Man City, PSG, RB Leipzig, Club Brugge
-
GROUP B: Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Porto, AC Milan
-
GROUP C: Sporting, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, Besiktas
-
GROUP D: Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sherrif Tiraspol
-
GROUP E: Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Benfica, Dynamo Kiev
-
GROUP F: Villarreal, Man Utd, Atalanta, Young Boys
-
GROUP G: Lille, Sevilla, RB Salzburg, Wolfsburg
-
GROUP H: Chelsea, Juventus, Zenit, Malmo
I’m happy enough with that. Chance to get back at Atletico (and see our pal Suarez), we have done Porto in a few times of late, and AC Milan - meh, was hoping for something a bit easier, but overall we have decent trips in terms of travel distance.
In terms of who wins the label of group of death, I’d say it’s Group A this season (Lol Pep) - it would have been worst had they got Sheriff and travelled all the way to Ukraine. United have done okay out of their draw.
At least they’ll all be worth watching, who needs a super league!
We have the only group with 4 former CL winner Clubs right?
Should be interesting games for us all around. Only thing I wanted was to avoid Russian and Eastern European teams because of the travel + weather. We did that. I do think we need to be better in the group stage than we have in the past few years.
Real Madrid 0
Sheriff 1
Remember: you read it here first.
Did Atletico win CL, or was it EL???
City’s group?
Sorry, you’re right. Atlético never won CL.
Think all clubs in Group B and E have won some European trophies.
If Cheaters + PSG go through… Doe’s that mean they avoid each other in the Qtr’s.?
Would say we’ve got the toughest draw of the English teams but still not worried at all, don’t think Porto will be much of a threat and Milan despite being a good side aren’t close to our level.
United got their usual favourable group, UEFA looks after them almost as much as the FA and EFL do for City domestically.
Just means they go out before the Qtr’s then
yes, and hopefully after that as well with both no longer in the competition.
Round of 16 is the next phase after the group stage.
They won’t meet in round of 16 but can meet in QF
Bwahaha…
Just based on UEFA coefficients these are the groups ranked in order
