UEFA Champions League

This is where individual results may come in to play for supporters.

Looking at those 3 middle games, I think a number of people would say, get 3 draws and your looking reasonably good for the final stretch.

Lose 2 and win 1 would give us the same number of points, but I wager a lot of fans would not be so optermistic.

Yeah draws really are penalised with the table and different fixtures for each club in a way they weren’t previously.

Some guestimates on what’s needed to qualify for the next round;

This weeks fixtures include some tasty ties;

8pm Arsenal v Paris St Germain
8pm Barcelona v Young Boys
8pm Bayer 04 Leverkusen v AC Milan
8pm Borussia Dortmund v Celtic
8pm Inter Milan v Crvena Zvezda
8pm PSV Eindhoven v Sporting Lisbon
8pm Slovan Bratislava v Manchester City
5.45pm SV Red Bull Salzburg v Brest
5.45pm VfB Stuttgart v Sparta Prague

Wednesday 2nd October 2024
8pm Aston Villa v Bayern Munich
8pm Benfica v Atlético Madrid
8pm Dinamo Zagreb v Monaco
5.45pm Girona v Feyenoord
8pm Lille v Real Madrid
8pm Liverpool v Bologna
8pm RB Leipzig v Juventus
5.45pm Shakhtar Donetsk v Atalanta
8pm Sturm Graz v Club Brugge

While complacency would be bad, I don’t think we have much to worry about with Bologna. Their only win this season has been against a fairly hapless Monza side, they are a shadow of what they were last season.

By contrast, I think we caught Milan at the best possible time. A big win over Inter, then another W, and they are playing with much more confidence than when they faced LFC. Bayer might be in for a tough match.

The nearest Bundesliga team to me in Germany against my local team when I lived in Glasgow.

Enzo Millot scored to Stuttgart against Sparta.

Didi Hamann recently said he is the best player in the Bundesliga at the moment.

Like most of the time he’s wrong of course but I definitely expect Millot in the PL next year.

1-1
What a freekick. Wow

Bit of a humbling for Salzburg.

Have they had any decent results at all the entire season so far?

Also, once again Clark and Bajcetic don’t play at the same time.

League results look ok, CL proper have been poor but they did knock out Twente in qualification

Why does the English footy press do this?

How about ‘will they win their 2nd match of an 8-match group round’? The eventual winner is so far off at this point, with so many huge matches in the 2nd stage. Speculation like this is just pointless pressure, irrelevant for any team that did not come up just short. Make a semi first. Will LFC win it all? No clue. Probably not, but I would have to say our chances are better than they were in 2005. Completely pointless to speculate right now.

BVB 1:0 Celtic. Can recovers from his twisted ankle to score a penalty.

Hope no City or Arsenal players get injured tonight. đŸ«°đŸœ
