UEFA Champions League

I will always support LFC, of course, but I hope they get second :slightly_smiling_face:

That is a brilliant result. Sheriff had played Zagreb 6 times and never beaten them.

What’s the connection to Sheriff?

It’s complicated and rather longwinded. It started in the first round of qualification stage. Johnston found this magnificent tie between Connah’s Quay Nomads F.C. and FC Alashkert. FC Alashkert met FC Sheriff Tiraspol in the second round and since then we have stuck by them.

It’s complicated, OK; you don’t have to roll your eyes like that :stuck_out_tongue:

Make it sound really complicated Ifti, then they’ll think we’re clever

Nobody could be indifferent to a tie which matches Connah’s Quay and Alashkert.
The romance, the mystery, the culture shock!
So that’s how it started-

Connah’s Quay Nomads 2
Alashkert 3

Alashkert 1
Sheriff Tiraspol 4

Sheriff Tiraspol 2
Red Star Belgrade 1

Personally I find these matches far more interesting than PSG vs Real or Chelsea vs Bayern for example.

Draw’s this Thursday. The pots aren’t quite set yet (3 and 4 to finalise), but as of now they stand as;

Pot one: Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, Inter Milan, Sporting Lisbon, Lille.

Pot two: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund.

Pot three: Porto, Ajax, RB Leipzig, Atalanta, Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Pot three or four: PLUS: Shakhtar Donetsk or Monaco, RB Salzburg or Brondby, Benfica or PSV Eindhoven, Besiktas, Dynamo Kiev, Dinamo Zagreb or Sheriff Tiraspol.

Pot four: Brugge, Young Boys or Ferencvaros, AC Milan, Ludogorets or Malmo, Wolfsburg.

Overall, ignoring the madness of pots 3 and 4, it’s looking good for us in terms of chances of avoiding the teams you don’t want in the group stages.

We’re in Pot 2, so avoid Read Madrid, Barca, Juve, PSG, Sevilla and Dortmund. From Pot B, Bayern and Athletico are probably the tougher games, with the rest we could face not worrying me at all (including Inter who have had to sell players and had Conte leave).

Pot 3 - Ajax and Leipzig prob want to be avoided, but give me short trips to Amsterdam or Germany over a trek to Ukraine or Russia.

Draw’s in Istanbul, with the final due to be played in Russia.

Pot 2!!! Oh my days

Do be fair I always hope for one of the big boys in the group, I hope we get Bayern or Inter

Wouldn’t mind Munich, Ajax, Milan. Just avoid anyone east of Germany.

If you want one of the big boys, for me its Athletico Madrid. They are a tough challenge, and have given us a few kicking’s. I was at Anfield the night they knocked us out last year, just before fans were banned from stadia. That was one of our best performances that season and but for a couple of minor errors, we would have qualified. Would be good to get back at them.

Ye agree

Them, Bayern or Inter

Portugal, Italy, France. Sporting, Atalanta, Monaco. Also, I don’t care, everyone welcome to Anfield.

Easiest possible draw please. No fuss, no injuries allowing us to focus on the league and other cups for a change as well. Happy to avoid these tougher sides until later stages.

Milan, please!

Fans back in the stadium and we haven’t played them in ages, since Athens.

They’re in pot 4.

Imagine getting

Bayern
Ajax
Milan

That be tasty and probably one of the hardest groups

It’s not one of the hardest groups if those … from Amsterdam are in it.

I think I’ll start with Psv and Benfica and maybe take a trip across the three games.
