This is 90% of the point of these movements. Someoneâs mate got paid a very inflated fee for this with some heavy backhanders going back the other way
I am well aware of Birminghamâs demographic, having lived here all my life.
Your response âAbsolute nonsense to imply that the banning of the Maccabi fans is anti semetic if thatâs what youâre trying to get atâ.
I do not know the real reasons why the travelling Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were banned from travelling.
I have however, provided you with information so you can look into the matter further. I have also provided examples of other Football games where tensions are high and still go ahead. If you are happy that the local MPs who were part of the discussions had no bias in their action or lack of action then so be it.
Strange though, how the PM thought it was a bad decision and was looking to over turn it.
Why donât you respond in relation to the context of the discussion @mascot and I were having?
As far as I am aware we were discussing the amount Rich people spend individually, compared to the common man. Apparently, Rich people donât spend money as they have got everything they want. Taking away food, I (a common man) doesnât spend that much.
If you want to join the debate, how much do you spend on stuff other than normal everyday expenses?
Sorry, I must apologise for being tiresome and disappearing for days. Unfortunately, I have this thing called work and family life.
I agree, you and I spend too much time arguing about the less important stuff, such as a definition of how far Right wing a party is.
From my own point of view, I feel I ask valid questions and you then choose to respond to something else which then detracts from the important part of the discussion. Maybe I am just as guilty, so I will bear this in mind.
I will be honest, I feel that you do tar everyone with the same brush. By your own words anyone voting for Reform is confused, conned or ill informed, this is so ignorant!
What makes your opinion more clear, informed, educated?
In my opinion this is yours and a large proportion of Labour voters problems. People with a view different to yours are confused, stupid, believe the RW Media. Have you ever considered that it may be you who is wrong??
For example, Caerphilly, a Labour stronghold for over 100 years got absolutely hammered in the by election this week. They were 3rd with only 11% of the vote. 100 years of being the main party to 3rd!
So can I ask you why this has happened?
So, What am I trying to do with the rest of my post?
See, you instantly shut it down, saying I should be ashamed - I have provided links from reputable sources. Yet, rather than enter into discussion or attempt to debate the issues, you deflect and call me out.
Do you think that any of the links are acceptable in todayâs society? A simple yes or no will suffice.
Youâve been âdebatingâ me on this ad hoc for weeks as with @Mascot. Its really not my problem that you dont like what people are telling you several times over.
The answer to your question is because thereâs far less billionaires than there is not. How many tvâs, ipads do people need? The point being made repeatedly to you is that all of us spend a far higher proportion of our money compared to the extremely wealthy. That money goes back into the economy. Billionaires and the very wealthy spend the same in cash terms, but have huge amounts left over which then leaves the economy, and this is increasing as the opportunities to do that have increased.
I suppose if you only read one biased source, you only get on side of the story.
What did Dick Schoof say? Did he not call the riots Anti-Semitic, what did the King say?
All I have done is provide the facts for which you choose to ignore. Further more try to judge me by.
Were a section of the Tel Aviv fans out of order, racist, looking to cause violence? Yes they were. Were a proportion of them attacked for their beliefs? Yes.
Stop being so narrow minded and offended. And, the ânon-white partnerâ reference, classy! Spoken like a true coward. Rather than debate I will undermine.
Look, it doesnât bother me whether their fans are allowed to attend or not. It doesnât affect me one iota. I condone the whole conflict, an issue created by the British government - under the Balfour agreement. An issue that is no closer to being solved 100 years later.
All I have done is question the decision to ban fans. The MPâs involved and our very own Home Secretary. It is clear to see that there was no attempt to look at alternative arrangements.
The absolute irony. My entire knowledge about the Amsterdam incident is based on following what happened then, not about the retrospective bending of facts as you are doing.
Stop pretending that you read anything but far-right propaganda. Itâs blindingly obvious at this point. I cited the Grauniad because it was literally an exclusive report from them, and I read it just a few minutes after it was published. But go ahead.
Even this article from Birmingham Live notes, despite its desperate spin to blame the politicians, that it was a policing decision that none of the politicians involved felt they had the right to intervene in.
Stop your bullshit. Policing decision, based on intelligence. No matter how you try to spin it, thatâs what the basis is.
Hang on a second, so you made a comment that was of no relevance to what Mascot and I was debating. I called you out on it and your response is to double down on a point we werenât discussing.
Hereâs a thought. Letâs all agree on one point of debate. Let us actually provide some factual evidence or at the very least some substance to our points.
Although I am not an economist, I have a rough idea of how the economy works. I am open to being educated, there are some posters like @redfanman who are good at this. The debate Mascot and I was having, was in mascots words (not quoting him directly) that the rich have everything they need so donât contribute to the economy (via taxes) as much as less well off to the poor.
You both talk as if you know what Billionaires or Millionaires spend their money on. Yet, have not provided any figures to support your argument. I am not saying you are wrong but at the same time I am not gonna just accept what you are saying as gospel.
My best mate is rich, worked hard, created a successful company off his own back. He is constantly spending money on things to the benefit of others but ultimately goes back into the economy.
I really donât understand why you get so hung up on billionaires being the downfall of the UK economy. Every country has billionaires, millionaires, every country has people manipulating the system yet all you can do is lay a high proportion of the blame on them. What makes the UK any different to the others?
Rather than reply to you in the same post as above, Iâll put this reply separately so mods can decide if this oversteps the forum guidelines into a personal attack.
But over and over again, you call other people ânarrow mindedâ or things similar to that, but youâre blatantly throwing stones in a glass house. Nobody on here likes debating you because youâre just really disingenuous, constantly claiming to be open-minded and centrist, when all you do is come on here and constantly spout far-right propaganda. You donât listen, you donât read, you donât change your mind. Youâre not here to debate. Youâre just here to parrot that bullshit and nobody here has time for that.
You object to my reference to your bringing up your partnerâs ethnicity, but you donât refute the basic point, which is that when a person feels the need to defend their supposed lack of racism by saying that they have people close to them who are of a minority ethnicity, itâs one of the tell-tale signs that they are, indeed, racist.
Mate, any publication bar the Guardian is classed as RW to you.
I am sure an intelligent person such as yourself is aware I am not trying to spin a story. I have provided reputable links hoping to engage in conversation and all I get is your rhetorical drivel.
So the politicians never intervened/influenced or set their agenda before hand - thatâs a lie.
Upon the decision by the SAG, they didnât feel the need to inform the PM or the Home Secretary - I mean this is an important decision and affects the Local economy.
The Prime minister, upon hearing the decision was appalled and was looking to overturn the ban.
I am sure you are aware that Labour have, unfortunately, built a recent reputation of being antisemitic, so I am sure there is a logical reason why the PM was not informed, I mean itâs not as if itâs important!
*Also, the article you linked has the title - missed chances!! - implying someone was at fault but that is too obvious.
Finally, Have you ever considered that your denial, and refusal to consider other peoples pointâs of view - which donât align with your own - a part of todayâs toxic society?
Also, for you to note. Citing an exclusive from the Guardian, of which you read minutes after it was published, does not give it more validity or mean it adds more substance to your argument. Just saying
I didnât object, so please donât put words in my mouth. I called it classy and a way of undermining my point of view without actually debating them.
I do not need to defend myself from anything, I am content with who I am, I do not need to prove or justify myself to someone like yourself. Some of you may define me as being RW or Racist, fair enough thatâs your opinion.
The problem I have with yourself, is that you are almost trying to incite something out of me, which is childish and actually makes me lose respect for anything you have to say.
Why are you doing this, fighting a lonely crusade like this, entrenching yourself constantly on the defensive , Lynch ? You are discarding what people say to you, including facts and you are extremely selective when you respond in the last year or do. So why ?
I remember you with fondness from 2 years ago, you were slightly contrarian, but nothing like this and you didnât spin then but conversed. Donât do it, Lynch. Stop. You are sinking, itâ s no use. You have torpedoes incoming on your starboard, portside and bow. You must abandon ship, donât go down with it for no reason.
I really wish you well. You have never been cruel, you are not mean. But you are drowning here, totally embattled and you canât see it because you have decided you must be so contrarian and skeptical of everything everyone says, even if they know the subject much matter better than you.
Just try to stop battling all the time, itâs no use and you are just left with exasperated and tired debating opponents that stop answering you civily because you are grinding their nerves with your constant trench warfare and you are passive agressive constantly and do not answer in good faith.
Donât go down with the ship. Abandon it, then find another instead. You are on the wrong course, ahead of you are only lethal torpedoes, no safe waters, and you will end up drowning if you donât abandon your current ship. Donât do it. I know itâs difficult, but donât do it. You really donât have to. Donât push the last people who still exchange views with you away.
