UK Politics Thread (Part 4)

It’s so sad to see the deaths of little girls being weaponised by the far-right grifters, and the masses being sucked in by this, totally oblivious to how they’re being manipulated

No. Not at all. It always best in these situations to let the authorities work. Don’t care who is in charge.

You seem angry.

You should pace yourself, the Budget is tomorrow. You’re gonna need to save all of your energy to come on here and tell us how all politicians are cunts but here are some Tory/Reform talking points.

Fair enough

Three kids are dead, too.

Pretty fucking gross to be using that to score points on a football forum.

I would assume both statements are correct. They aren’t going to disclose vital information on a live investigation that may provide information to a third party suspect or undermine an ongoing criminal trial.

I’m not sure what your point is here, other than the Police and Prime Minister both following protocol.

Just annoyed that all through the riots and looting, which I condemned as strongly as anyone, they knew all along that this kid did have terrorist intentions.

On reflection I do see that keeping it quiet probably avoided further episodes of rioting

Two wrongs don’t make a right, and a lone wolf doesn’t justify rioting.

I don’t think they did know. This is something that has come out from the police investigation. One of the reasons that they will have withheld the information is that the Police will have had to trawl through his contacts and online history to see if he has had any accomplices.

From what they have reported, they still haven’t established motive. They have made two further charges, one of which comes under a Terrorism act but doesn’t, in itself, indicate a terrorist motivation but does seem to point to the fact that he had been planning to hurt people. In the USA, they would probably find that someone had been studying assault weapons and tactics, but this doesn’t, in itself, point to terrorism as motivation, just that they intended to hurt people.

I suspect that there are a fair few other details that are being withheld. Remember that they are likely to have to select a jury to hear the trial and they can’t prejudice that by releasing evidence out of context.

From an article on the BBC.

"The Southport attacks are not being treated as a terrorist incident.

Possessing a document that could be useful in preparing an act of terrorism is an entirely separate offence.

To be labelled as terrorism, the attack would have to be an attempt to advance a political, religious, racial or ideological cause. But it is not clear what possible motivation there might have been.

Authorities are urging people not to speculate, as it could jeopardise the entire court case."

I think you are speculating.

Yes, that’s actually one of the definitions…

“the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence.”

Oh dear, I really dont want to argue but you have just stated, that the Southport incident was a terrorist offence and the government knew all along. (Before conceding that you might have jumped the gun on the last point)

Opinion or not that’s still speculation in my book and exactly what caused the riots that followed.

It’s worth remembering that a 17 year old who goes out and stabs three children to death is in all likelihood a cocktail of fucked up ideologies and influences.

The police need to be able to conduct their business with the public rubbernecking and jumping to conclusions about motivations.

It might turn out to have been part of a terror campaign or it might have been a random attack by someone who’s brain was all over the place. We’ll find out eventually, but until then speculation doesn’t help.

I wonder what the reaction would have been like if it was a 17-year-old with that race replacement theory bullshit and whatever bomb-making manual there was before.

Reeves is smashing it.

The cunts sitting opposite her are fucking criminals. They actively hid the truth.

£40bn in tax rises :grimacing:

But the previous government did not include costs for the infected blood scandal or post office scandal in their assessments.

Reducing borrowing over time.

I think its gonna hurt…

Sorry, what’s “cfcd”?

Counter fraud compliance debt…for DWP…currently my role, and the work is always growing and more work for the current staff levels, really do need a recruitment drive
