UK Politics Thread (Part 4)

I’m just fed up with emotional Far Right populist rethoric. None of it makes any fucking sense if you just sit down and think for a second in silence, while having your cup of tea.

I’ve no idea where you’re getting your numbers from

But then they end up in poverty if they have many of them (a lot would). The difference between Working Class and those on benefits is also very fluent, as it’s usually the Working Class who gets benefits after they start struggling for a variety of reasons.

In France the 3rd child and more is rewarded with quite a few extra benefits. Child benefit itself is double what you receive for either of the first 2.

And France is a model economy? We have to live within our means simple as that we cannot keep spending and taxing ourselves n a huge state and welfare.

So we cut pensions then?

Certainly gold plated public sector pensions!!

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

What is clear is that tax cuts for the rich has created a real mess. However people blindly vote for more of that nonsense.

And what if people truly work hard to be classed as “rich”. Start with nothing. Sacrifice.

So what? What if people truly work hard to be classed as “rich” but still fail anyway? Start with nothing, sacrificing everything along the way?

It’s absurd that we keep presuming as a society that hard work = financial reward, when it’s quite clear otherwise.

Is that to everyone are just families with working parents?

I came from a very much working class area, mining and steel industry.

I have moved to NZ and all my old friends have the same thoughts they are sick and tired of a certain ‘benefit class’ those that don’t work and have numerous children due to benefits they receive and there are many families with generations that don’t work.

They are alll very very critical of the amount of immigrants coming over and claiming benefits.

They all, as I was, were very staunch Labour, but none will vote for them as in their opinion they now don’t support the working class, which is the same here in NZ.

I hate the current stance of politics and political parties, the extremes are too far apart.

Lastly, politics in many countries have to pander to a small portion, the swing voters, as they are paramount to who gets in power.

I had to read it 5 times to understand your point. But if hard work does have financial reward why be penalised for it?

The equivalent of child benefit is for everyone.
The number of parts which influences income tax only affects those that pay or might have had to pay income tax. It raises the threshold for example.
The thinking was that for it’s geographical size France is under populated compared to many other European states. To encourage population growth this was introduced and has just remained. Like things do.

Is spitting image back on telly?

Ok, pay them the same rate as the private sector then.

Secondly, most public sector pensions are not as juicy as they used to be. No more final salary schemes etc.

My issue is with those with multi generations on benefits and not working.

For me to receive benefit you must be incentivised to work and be willing to work if you are physically capable.

I agree, there are those that need to be looked after and looked after properly due to disability or illness.

However, there are far too many bludgers.

No apparently they are releasing on youtube
