UK Politics Thread (Part 4)

Why, yes it is…thanks for asking.

"Axel Rudakubana, 18, has been charged with production of a biological toxin contrary to Section 1 of the Biological Weapons Act 1974.

He has also been charged with possessing a PDF document of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing to or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000…

…The teenager has already been charged with the murders of Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine."

Are you genuinely this uninformed, or are you just trolling?

Source (in case you don’t take your news from the totally-biased fake news BBC as posted by @redfanman): https://www.merseyside.police.uk/news/merseyside/news/2024/october/statement-from-chief-constable-serena-kennedy-and-partners-following-further-charges-for-axel-rudakubana/

Court case gets deferred again and again but the facebook comments you are straight to prison for 20 months.

I’d log off if I were you. You’re having a bit of a nightmare here.

Absolutely agree. I would never make fun of it if Biden, or anyone else, was indeed trying to make world war 3 happen, or if there was even a slight chance that allowing Ukraine to strike RU ammo depots and airfields with Western arms within 300km range would make Kreml decide to launch nukes out of the blue; without prior escalation.

I wonder if you are up in arms about millions of north korean shells, hundreds of artillery pieces and…hundreds of ballistic missiles and 2 DRPK field divisions waging war, in Europe and not Korea; or if 30-50 US missiles is what is supposed to trigger doomsday. The escalation from Washington is only happening in the brains of the rather low quality sources you seem to rely upon to stay informed.

Go on, what Facebook comments are you on about?

Would you care to demonstrate these cases, what the charges were, what the standard sentencing guidelines are, what the evidence was, and what the burden of proof is?

I just had to endure an interview with Boris Johnson live on French tv. He was there ostensibly to promote his book but was ambushed with a cutaway piece about his Brexit promises , juxtaposed with a video montage of a decrepit NHS. It really was quite a brutal exposure of what his party has done to the once best thing about the country and had him bloviating and blustering like the con man he is.

He looked fucking terrible , hair even more ridiculous than usual , eyes even more bagged and jowls reminiscent of a basset hound. He spoke in French but his vocabulary was so limited as to make most of what he said repetitive and meaningless. To compensate he was gesticulating even more than usual and clearly thought he was coming across well.

How wrong he was. The interviewer , the merciless Anne -Sophie Lapix , was clearly immune to his charms and typically incredulous at some of his claims , and wasn’t afraid to let him know neither.

I’ve heard that in his book he says that he should never have apologised for Partygate and now that he’s seen how the master of never saying sorry has stormed back into power , it’s hard not to suspect that he’s already making plans.

Hasta la vista baby.

The court case is still gathering evidence. Do you want the perpetrator to escape on a legal technicality?

You may not like Keir Starmer or his politics, which is fair enough, but he is absolutely a stickler for the letter of the law.

Given that we have had a fair few years of total disregard for legal process, I find it quite refreshing.

It is a legit point that “serious” criminals are released early and social media posters are locked up.

Wall, blindfolds, firing squad.

And why did they have to let people out of jail to let a person in who was found guilty of posting stuff on facebook that started riots?

Why isnt Farage in jail then? He posts utter tripe a the time?

Puzzling :man_shrugging:

Not really, he’s awaiting trial. But you could have looked that up.

This thing you have of editing posts to try and be clever isnt a great look imo. Fine for a laugh but to be clever it doesnt quite work.

Just sayin.

Awaiting trial, not fast tracked then?

Thats a question for the prosecution service I guess.

Well they’re not going to answer me are they?

I’m no Farage fan, but you’re asking why he isnt in jail for posting “utter tripe”, yet seem pretty relaxed about someone caught on video asking for throats to be cut to just await trial.

Facebook posters jailed almost instantly, yet Ricky Jones awaiting trial.
Don’t you see where people might form an opinion that there are double standards at play?

The bar is getting lower and lower all the time.

I had an exchange on here a few weeks ago and it left me in no doubt where things are heading.
Opinion = “Speculation” = knock on door.

And my neighbour was recently burgled. They gave a crime number but didn’t attend due to staffing. Fucking joke.
