Sorry Mo but Virgil is the best player in the world for me this season.
Virgil van Dijk on Carabao Cup Final preparations: “I had a show at school because one of my daughters [Jadi] had a play, something called Fantastic Mr Fox.” “And she was really good, so I was really proud of her. My daughter was actually the mother of the foxes.
“Funnily enough, there were also more kids from our team there. Wataru Endo’s son was also playing a good role. He was a rat, but did very well.” “It was nice to see each other there.
Obviously some of the kids are looking up, thinking, ‘What are you doing here?’ But I really like doing that. The most important thing in life is my kids and my wife.” “These things are definitely important, but they fully understand as well when it’s time to fully focus on the task ahead.”

This was the point that I realised that I have pretty much no idea about the personal lives of most of our players. I know that Szoboszlai is engaged, Núñez just had a kid, and so did Jones, but I’m drawing a blank on the rest. I had no idea the latter two were even in relationships to begin with.
That said the obvious one to remember is Salah and how much he got booed when bullying future Scouse football legend Makka Salah…
As it should be, in my opinion.
Although what they do in their jobs is very public, players deserve to have a private life.
I find it quite sad when they post everything they do off the pitch on social media, but that’s their decision.
VVD is on a TV football advert for Amazon Prime I think it is… He is sitting next to a young girl aged about 7/8yrs old… She actually looks like him. It would surprise me though, if he allowed exposure of his own kin on something like that, in this crazy world.
I don’t know what the future will bring for Van Dijk, whether he’ll stay, whether he’ll remain at his best but I’m genuinely saddened that this is not something I got to grow up with. His quality and character deserve every bit of love and recognition that the best Liverpool players ever were granted.
In fairness, Michael Owen makes Michael Owen look like a massive tit without any help from anyone.
It actually wasnt an unreasonable question - there has been a period of disappointment, how did they lift themselves up to resume their league challenge? He’s just such a little prick that Virgil’s response was entirely appropriate
And is it me or is Owen’s accent starting to sound weirdly Irish?
It’s just you.
I do disagree, several pundits have put a downer on our season as we have only one prize left, but that prize is for me the only one I really wanted at the beginning of the season anything else is a bonus.
This will be my ethos until we have 21 titles, one more than the Mancs, to shut them up and have us rightly at the top of the tree.
Of course just my opinion, and I loved seeing Virg make Owen eat his words
Not one of them had us near a title challenge so they can second guess what we care.
It’s bollocks.
Listen to it specifically at the 00:20-00:22 mark, it’s the way he says Premier League…
Edit: he says it the same way around the 00:09 mark as well, he says “Premier League” in an Irish accent and that’s a hill I’ll die on lol
Virgil van Dijk has only lost 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄 Premier League games at Anfield since joining Liverpool
He joined the club over 7 years ago…
Is a crazy record
The damn forest game. Still sticking in Arne’s mind.
