War in Iran : Trump's latest misadventure

I got that too. Everyone gets it when they click on it, i think.
The article is still good. Trofimov is still very, very knowledgable (although sometimes he may be wrong, but generally not).

Have to run to the dentist now, but I have to say that I took a bit more out of it than that !

Have a very good morning, by the way

Funny thing is that I could access the article from my laptop and that even didn’t take any verification.

Even if the US can suppress the drone-hubs (specially the FPVs) around Hormuz, etc. it’s not going to change much. Ships aren’t sailing through the Strait because they are getting hit by drones/missiles, they aren’t sailing because they know they can get hit.

So, even a 30-KM buffer zone wouldn’t matter because Iran will be launching drones from beyond that zone, and the ships will still have the same risk of getting hit.

Hormuz is easy, pay the toll follow the instructions and sail through. If Iran doesn’t accept that you sail through don’t sail.

Here’s an idea, instead of moving the deadlines, just call it a day.

That’s actually happening. China don’t pay toll because are buying the Iranian oil, Russia don’t pay toll because they are helping Iran with technology, and intelligence. Rest are reportedly paying a toll $1/Barrel to pass the Hormuz.

Fair go,Trump doesn’t do commonsense!
Can he even spell it?

This and the Ukraine conflicts are interesting from the perspective that even if the aggressor has nuclear weapons and vastly superior, as long as you are organized enough, and have some backing financially or strategically, you can resist.

The Iran situation is interesting in that they dispensed with (or were able to operates w/o) a centralised command set up and so were more resistant to cutting off the head of the snake strategy that Israel and the US went for.

Seems that this should give more power to the small guy rather than the behemoths like the US, China and Russia. All the investment in the bomb, 6/7th gen fighters or aircraft carriers seems to have been banished to the level of self and mutual masturbation.

Usual Iranian regional behaviour, unfortunately. There is a reason why the Islamic Republic is hated with intense passion by many people in the region (and more so the governments of the neighbour states).

There are of course no British, US or and certainly no Israeli (lol), experts, hiding in plain sight in Syria except in the areas Israel currently occupies (rather obviously). And even more obviously, not in Damascus.

The ‘power’ in Iran is a lot more horizontal than in many countries (where vertical systems are a lot more common).
Cutting the head off just doesn’t work here. So just another massive strategic error from Israel and USA. It’s amazing Israel didn’t predict this then again their strategy was/is to eliminate all of them. The problem with eliminating all of them is at some point you could end up with someone, or a number, of competent/s pulling the strings or a, or number, of complete nut cases in charge.

Wasn’t there a NYT article that said USA personnel have abandoned the bases and now working from alternative places?

Some bases, not sure about all. Also, minor salt needed as to location of personnel imo. It’s classified information. But yes, non-vital personnel has been evacuated from various bases.

Is this recent? I read a similar news a few days ago.

Not 100% sure, but the second image indicates that it happened today or yesterday. Planes don’t burn for days

Looks like Iran has struck for a second time. They did something similar two weeks ago:

Anyway, this is rather dwarfed by the last 3 nights in Russia (US can afford to lose some planes, not really critical for them). Shame I cannot post about it and a shame that no one seems to care or are even slightly interested in such monumental events.
We are on Night 4 now of consequtive large scale strikes in St. Petersburg Oblast and Russia has banned petrol exports from April 1st.
No one on this forum seems to care the slightest though, which I find truly bizarre given the scale of what is happening.
