War in Iran : Trump's latest misadventure

Let us see if this continues tonight. Still early and they probably don’t have command and control in regards to all units yet, given they had orders to disperse and go radio silent and execute orders and all of that.

Maybe consequences for the long term.

Good news that Trump has TACOed out once again. That will hopefully discredit him in the eyes of many of the people who were stupid enough to vote for him. The reassuring strong-man image suddenly gets far, far less convincing… He launches a costly and unnecessary war (something he promised not to do), and reveals himself as a stupid, clueless, hesitant loser. I’m sure that this will go down well with the voters.

That country has become the definition of rogue. No-one sane in his/her mind can continue to have a favourable opinion of it, as too much damage has been done. It’s good that people in the US finally wake up and start taking notice.

Yeah, but it’s not peace and love yet, mate. Ceasefire is super shaky, getting broken by all sides but the US now constantly and few think the US can accept the Iranian terms in the end, so what then ? War restart seems costly and very politically costly, but still. This is not yet resolved.

And I doubt Israel will agree to end operations in Lebanon. Will the US truly force them to do so ? I don’t know. I don’t really think so.

Sorry. I should probably be happier. It’s just that I am not at all sure this is over and do NOT understand if the US accept all the Iranian terms. Because…I mean, I cannot imagine it.

But perhaps this is the start of the culmination of Plan 9 From Outer Space. I fucking hope so ! But the result of the war politically even if it ends now, is absolutely terrible for oh so many reasons.

Let’s see how the ‘ceasefire’ affects the relevant parties:

  1. Iran gets a respite from the death & destruction, an opportunity to regroup, and retains a potential source of revenue from the Strait.
  2. Trump gets away from a potential impeachment, and a potential war-crimes charges, and can even stake a claim for next years Nobel.
  3. Gulf countries gets a respite from the destruction, and uncertainty, and an opportunity to rebuild.
  4. Netanyahu again lands his people in a disaster, that with a election, and a corruption charge on the horizon.

Netanyahu is the only beneficiary from a continued hostility.

In ‘normal’ diplomatic times the Iranian terms are just negotiating points the will be discussed during the cease fire. It’s not a real cease fire anyway it’s a reprieve.
That Iran got it down to 10 major points is a victory in itself, then again the Trump administration can not count so it’s probably just an oversight by them.

From what I can gather the US continued some operations last night. I mean noone has mentioned when this cease fire is supposed to be be implemented.
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens from now. With 3 major lunatic, rogue nations and a load of independent rogue groups running around it was completely unpredictable from the off.

Translation:
During the two-week ‘ceasefire’, only about 10 to 15 ships will pass through the Strait of Hormuz with Iran’s consent, in coordination with the IRGC Navy, and after paying tolls, and the US is committed to releasing all of Iran’s blocked assets. The Strait of Hormuz will not be ‘opened’ in any way, even after a final agreement. In addition, the US has committed to refrain from any kind of troop movement during this period. During this period, negotiations will be held based on Iran’s 10-point plan, the details of which are mentioned in the text of the Supreme National Security Council statement. If no agreement is reached, the war will resume.

I heard the same. Strait closed once more.

Unless something strange happens, like Trump leaning extremely hard on Israel in a way that is humiliating to Israel, this ceasefire is over.
