You know that Israel does not support Ukraine, you know Israel has refused to sell Ukraine weapons. You know all of that. You know Ukraine votes with Palestine, you know Israel hates that. You know Ukraine’s only interest in the Middle East war is for it to end before it began. You know that.

Zelensky is saying that Israel is a model for what Ukraine has to be - heavily militarized, etc. Even that article from 2022 you provide shows where Zelenksy is critical of Israel, and that has only deepened in the past 4 years. Ukraine has been studiously silent on what has been happening in the Middle East over the past few years, and right now is only actively engaging versus Iran due to the extensive use of Shaheds against Ukraine. That is a very long way from supporting what Israel is doing.

That UNIFIL mission all but violates a basic precept of peacekeeping, that the parties actually want an end to the hostilities. Just a steady drip of dead peacekeepers (French this time, frequently Irish, many other countries over the years), and it is not at all clear that either Israel or Hezbollah wants a peace to be kept. Lebanon does, but they are essentially powerless observers in their own country.
UNIFIL Observer duty is one of the worst UN duties. I know many who have served there. Getting shot at by both Hezbollah and sometimes Israel. And they are almost unarmed, their RoE very restrictive. I have a lot of respect for UNIFIL veterans because I know what many of them have experienced. Complete helplessness.

All sides are acting in Bad Faith anyway. No party is really desperate for “peace”. Trump needs peace the most, but he needs to win to be able to withdraw. Iran, unless US suddenly threatens invasion (in which case the situation changes and Iran should and must greatly lower it’s demands or the Islamic Republic would fall) , might as well fight for another month to get better terms.
But the US is not going to threaten an invasion of scale in any case, since this is not politically possible for Trump. Which is why we are stuck here with high energy prices moving towards a true crisis. Because the warring parties are unable to defeat each other decisively in just a couple of months, using the means they have available (i.e. US does not use an Army).
So the rogue state the US has now expanded to piracy and hijacking or is there a war going on that no one knows about.

Very fair ! I have no faith in what they say, obviously, but I look at patterns and movement. Iran opening up air space is movement indicating that Iran does not expect missiles in the air space at this moment, Trump sending his 3 “best people” (lol) is effort.
He is sending Kushner, Witkof and Vance to Pakistan, so there is at least an attempt.
A likely outcome may be an extended ceasefire and the Hormuz Strait remaining closed for now. But it’s impossible to say really. The problem is of course that the Iranians are no longer a unified front, but there are factions inside it’s leadership now openly and brazenly at each other’s throats, (Pezekhian and the foreign ministry versus the IRGC), and the IRGC doesn’t want a ceasefire at current. I don’t know what the outcome will be but I note that there is a real struggle to deescalate from both the American side and parts of the Iranian leadership.

Yeah, there’s been at least 5 instances of trades prior to an announcement from Trump. It is estimated that those trades earned in excess of $0.5 bn.
That’s why I asked earlier if there was anyone on the US side looking into that. Not that I expect anything to come from it, but you can always hope.
