Given that we have a kitten in the house, we are planning something similar, but in a cage.

Nobel prize boffins, please explain.
How is it that if you wear a certain pair of socks with a certain pair of shoes, the socks fall down and end up all scrunched up, but if you wear the same socks with different shoes, or the same shoes with different socks, it doesn’t happen?
Explain that away science nerds!

Somebody reason this one for me please. I have USB to micro USB cables, USB to lightening, USB to USB C and Usb C to USB C cables by the boat load. Why is it that which ever one I want I can’t find and can only find 32 of the other. When I want the other, I can only find the ones I was looking for yesterday?

Do you have kids? They have a habit of “borrowing” whichever one it is that they keep losing.

That is easy to answer.

Yes but she has little character clip on tags to identify hers and always knows exactly where they are. I want a paternity test!

Friction. Different shoes, different friction coefficients.

I had similar issues with a 280 -300m long bridge.

Did it keep slipping down and getting scrunched up inside the shoe?

You’re welcome

Sort of. When you first erect big steel beam bridges most of the bearings are on nylon shims. That allows you to unclamp the bearing and position the bottom half directly on its gridline no matter what the steel beam above is doing

This particular one would shrink up to 50mm overnight and then grow again during the day due to thermal expansion. When it was expanding it would take half the shims with it, then overnight it would shrink back and the shims would get left behind and squished out.

Your foot is basically moving back and forwards in your shoe. Sock goes one way but doesnt come back

You need to grow rougher leg hair to increase the friction

Useful advice as ever gasbag. What are your favoured techniques for growing rough leg hair?

As the resident leg hair specialist, you can rub premium Scottish whisky on your legs and massage it preferably with a banana for 30 minutes every night. Otherwise, you can follow the more common methods below

I knew I shouldn’t have asked
