I think they might be in the position we were when Rodgers got the job. It’s just not attractive to the big guns (Klopp turned us down at that point). They need someone who can just steady things, keep the team around the top eight while they deal with the structural problems that blight the club - the wages, the personalities, etc.
If they are willing to give him three years, and let him eat shit and shake hands while they gut the squad and rebuild it, Southgate might not be a bad appointment.
They are a decade away from winning the league, and that’s if they get everything right from now.

Amorim must know he’s in the running for the City job. Can’t see him taking this one. Potter is a good shout. Can see him being a better fit but not sure he could manage the dross egos. Xavi is the name United want but he’s kinda shit as a manager.

It was alleged a few weeks ago that any compensation fee paid to Ten Hag would have a very negative effect on their PSR compliance.
Anyway, I still can’t believe that Klopp’s Liverpool somehow contrived to lose to that shower of shit twice and draw twice. Ten Hag will actually finish his career having been one of rare football coaches who has a positive record against him.
Knowing their luck, though, Van Nistelrooy will turn out to be the second coming of Rinus Michels or they’ll stumble upon someone like that.
