It’s not like 3-4-3 would be impossible for them to field, quickly off the top of my head (not getting into too detailed who would start ahead of who):
Given his relationship to Mourinho, I think it is also quite likely that he is asking fundamental questions about who controls players coming in and going out. Some big names came in while Mourinho was manager, players like Pogba and Ibrahimovic weren’t likely his idea. Amorim is probably quite comfortable working with a sporting director in principle, but will need some assurances and familiarity. He cannot help but be aware of the similarities he has to Ten Haag circa 2021 as the ‘next big thing’.
Ruben Amorim keen on three Sporting players for Man Utd – including a former Spurs star
Ruben Amorim isn’t giving much away on when he will join Manchester United – but sources have said he would be interested in bringing three of his Sporting players with him.
Incoming Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim wants a former Spurs youth product to help spearhead his Old Trafford revolution.
The 39-year-old looks increasingly likely to join the North West side after notice was given to Sporting Lisbon investors of the approach from United and that a deal is likely to be completed.
Amorim himself insists his future has yet to be decided, despite Manchester United willing to pay the £8.3million termination clause in his contract and reports he has verbally agreed to a move to Old Trafford.
After Sporting’s Portuguese League Cup win over Nacional on Tuesday evening, Amorim told reporters: “Nothing is decided yet. I don’t know if it’s the farewell game or not.”
And Amorim also acknowledged the frustration of Sporting fans too. “Of course they [the fans] are angry,” said Amorim. "They have a lot of affection for me and my work. I understand that and it’s perfectly natural. If I have the opportunity, and I certainly will, I’ll explain in detail why I decided one thing or another."
