When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

Obviously a Liverpool forum is not a place where Amorim would enough opinions that he actually might be the right man, or at least until he potentially proves he is and they return being successful again. Because it takes time. And that club still has other areas to improve other than just the manager role. They had the odd season of finishing pretty high up the table in recent years, but there was no consistency in order to stay there or improve further.

That was a super fucking clearance, without question.

Fair points.

I disagree with ā€˜much higher’ this year.

The teams above them aren’t exactly scrubbers…the absolute dregs of the league aside, any team can beat any other on their day.

BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD!!!

Even when people were dissing Amorim in this thread , always felt he could do well. Especially with the training sessions he could get post Jan 1st.

In fairness he looked a generational talent when he came through at Ajax and before he went to Juve. Guy has fallen a long way to get to Carrington.

He reminds me of Skirtel , always lunging around.

They got absolutely hammered by Arsenal even before they went down to 10. They just play with 5 defenders, 2 defensive midfielders and 2 withdrawn attacking midfielders making them tough to break down.

Ten Haag got these exact same performances out of them.

Yup I knew we would hear this.

There are reasons we didn’t win and I don’t particularly think it was down to the tactical excellence of Amorim.

If they start getting results against all teams not deemed as the big six then I’ll perhaps accept it.

But as others have said we’ve been here before.

I was just about to post the same, to be a team consistently challenging or winning things, playing counter attacking football doesn’t work long term in our league.

This ugly bearded cunt hasn’t won a game in the last 6 or 7. As the great Harvey Keitel said in Pulp Fiction ā€œlet’s not start sucking each other’s dicks just yetā€

Man Utd signed a kid from Paraguay so now they’re a sensible football club is quite a take.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/01/13/dieogo-leon-manchester-united-latest-transfer-important/

For what it’s worth the article mentions them signing Chido Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone as other signs of their emerging competence.

Interesting thing with Obi-Martin is that, despite raining goals at U18 level and being massively physically superior to everyone on the field (he’s a massive frame and quite a bit more developed in muscular build) both Arsenal and Man Utd are seemingly in no rush to push him beyond U18 football. He doesn’t even start for Man Utd’s U19 team in the Youth Champions League. He’s only 17 but a 17 year old who is as hyped as him would usually be pushing for higher levels of football - Ngumoha for example has already played first team football for us. Harry Amass, Jayce Fitzgerald, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher and Jacob Devaney are all other 2007 players who have jumped to U21 football while Obi-Martin has been left behind in the U18s. Why? And why is hi signing from Arsenal automatic sign of competence… lets see him actually get out of the kiddy league first.

Here is an example of why I don’t think he’s good enough to progress at the higher levels. The ball is played to Martin with a bunch of room to run into - however the defender he is up against is Gabriel Otegbayo. For those who don’t know Otegbayo is a defender who was on trial at Stoke after being released by Burnley. He went on to sign for Sheffield Wednesday and broken through to their first team. You can see from the clip that Otegbayo has a big physical advantage over most of the players on the field, just like Obi-Martin normally does. So what happens when Obi-Martin, ā€œwonderkid and future superstarā€ if the media are to be believed goes up 1v1 against a defender released from Burnley but who can match him physically?.. he get’s absolutely dominated.

Of course later in the game Obi gets fouled by Otegbayo (there’s a reason Burnley released him and Stoke didn’t sign him off the trial afterall) and gets to score a penalty and do a stupid celebration to the camera but the point is that at the next step up everyone is big and strong - his physical advantage will disappear when he has to play against developed footballers every week.

Sekou Kone, signed straight from Senegal, has played barely 100 minutes of football this season.

Anyway, media will continue to hype up Man Utd. Go for it.

Manchester United will not allow Rashford to join one of their Premier League rivals, with Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham having shown an interest in taking the forward on loan. (Star)

So Utd now consider West Ham and Spurs as rivals
