When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

Dyche likes players who can head and bust a gut.

No chance he will sign him.

I donā€™t expect they will.

Ya think? Reportedly almost Ā£190K/week, contracted to 2025? He is 30, 32 at the end of the contract. That contract is quite possibly the last significant income of his career - a player of his standard probably would not see much more than 33% of that wage right now, midtable PL and down. He will earn more on that contract than he can expect to earn playing to age 37, with the reality being there is no chance of that.

Leaving the contract aside, only 13 PL clubs have ever paid that much for a player, only 9 have paid that much for a defender. ManU are one of them, obviously. We can safely rule out Leicester and probably West Ham from doing it again for Maguire. That leaves the usual 6, plus new entrant Newcastle. Maybe Toon is that thickā€¦but I doubt it. Would we sign him? City? Arsenal or Spurs?

The hope would seem to be that Chelsea would be that stupid.

Then consider that contract. There is no market for him. The three scenarios are he sits on the bench with Ten Haag trying to drive him out, a loan to cover part of his wages, or they do a self-funded sale where in lieu of a transfer fee he gets paid his wages by someone else - maybe a Leicester if they stay up.

He is about a year away from being what Joe Cole was for us.

Send him to Villa, so he plays RCB with Mings LCB.

That would be fun to watch.

Maguire is a great header of the ball, real finisher - didnā€™t you see that first Sevilla match?

Joe Cole was never that bad.

He was man enough to come out and apologise for his display, we canā€™t fault him for that.

Canā€™t see him dropping to the championship. :grinning:

Itā€™s important to point out that Sevilla have been bad this year. Not ā€œoh no, weā€™re not going to make the CLā€ bad, but ā€œI think we may need to fire our third manager of the season to help us avoid relegationā€ bad. Theyā€™ve had a bounce under this new manager that has seen them get a bit of distance, but itā€™s only been 3 league games and any sort of regression to the mean will see them sucked right back into the fight. That is who thrashed Utd.

Even with VVDā€™s drop in form he is still 10 times better.

Reports that Jadon Sancho is being heaved over the side. Not so long ago, he looked really good. I would not be surprised to see him turn his career around in a better environment.

Done in by chocolate cake gate? It seems strange he has not had much of a look in under ETH, is it because of the managers preference for Anthony, or is Sancho simply becoming a young player who isnt pulling his weight in training?

He was the player probably most impacted by their purchase of Ronaldo. By the time EtH came in he was already 12 months into a period of under delivering. From how heā€™s been treated you can infer that heā€™s likely not responded to this career set back well. And I donā€™t necessarily mean in terms of professionalism. How talented kids like this deal with their first set back, the likes of which they never had to face coming up, is a huge unknown and for players with ego it can be emotionally destabilizing. Kind of like a boxer who is used to bullying opponents getting KOed for the first time.
