See articles like this about Bruno Fernandes every few months acclaiming him, how much he means to United and where theyād be without him. The headline alone makes the mind boggle.
A proper manager would have turfed him out at the first opportunity.
He is a pretty unlikeable player, but I do find it interesting that most people who have worked with him have a very different perspective on him, including serial winners like Bernardo Silva and Ronaldo. It is likely he just has one of those incredibly smackable faces.
There are lots of stories about him covering costs of stuff out of his own pocket and generally being pretty sound of the pitch.
Itās the on the pitch stuff - the petulance, the stropping, and the giving up. Iāve watched games where he clearly wants no part of it. He might dig out something spectacular, but he isnāt digging in for the team. He isnāt going to work his way out of a hole. I think thatās a problem in a captain.
Itās the effort, professionalism and the role model behavior these guys praise. It really feels a lot of the āheās given upā is confirmation bias from people who are, reasonably, enjoying the opportunity to stick the boot in.
There was a famous one of him asking to be substituted in one of the games where we thrashed them. It was completely made up, but every KNOWS it to be true. Because you know, heās such a bad influence and bad leader. Which everyone knows to be true.
The 7-0 at Anfield? Pretty sure he was asking to come off during that one. Heās known for sulking around the pitch and generally stinking the place out. No confirmation bias for any of those things. Heās a large part of the problem United have.
Right. That is exactly what Iām talking about and everyone KNOWS that was what he was doing because the internet said so with a big laugh the next day and hes such an unsympathetic character that everyone was happy to just run with it.
What happened was they had just subbed off their striker for a winger and were not receiving any information about what the managerās intention was for who was now playing where. He was frustrated at the lack of direction and clarity and so was yelling to the bench to sort it out
I mean the only source for him demanding to come off was a hysterical Neville looking for excuses for why the Utd side is so shit, which the entire internet seems to have accepted as fact despite the wealth of rejections of the claims. And the fact that it didnt even really look like that is what he was doing.
Sounds very complicated. Looked to everyone else like he wanted off. I donāt watch the pre or after game stuff nor follow any pundits. Thanks for telling us what really happened though, as usual, forgot to run by you first with what I saw.
