Where would you live if you could, and why?

This wouldn’t have been bad!

Could you imagine being stuck with 28 fellow TAN members for five days?

No amount of alcohol would be enough.

But could u pick the other 28 who u would be stuck with…

Inisheer, smallest of the Aran Islands.

The only place I have completely emptied my head, where thoughts become clear and inspiration grows. It is a beautiful place. Small, no pretensions, no bullshit…the most serene place I have been.

If the Mrs agreed and if we could get a two bedroom cottage I would be gone.

Great city. Have several mates who moved there and love visiting.

I agree. I wouldn’t mind, as long as insurance covered the cost, I would be all for it ! It would be an adventure and how often do you get the chance to go on such incredibly safe addventures like that ? It’s a pub. It has food and drink, it’s five days, not that long but just long enough to get to know people and probably end up liking someone I thought I wouldn’t like. But it would depend on the economic cost. It coverd by (or at least partly covered by) insurance, I would be absolutely all for it and probably treasure the time spent on that place with fellow loonies.

What @redalways is describing is basically here apart from the mild summers. The summers here can very hot and very humid and this year we got an extra month of it.

Here is the Hokuriku region of Japan. Lots of mountains with the nearest ski slopes about 40 minutes drive from here and we’re even closer to the coast. Hokuriku is Toyama, Ishikawa and Fukui Prefectures. I live in the latter and whilst it’s very scenic, it’s not very exciting. The city of Kanazawa is the place to go to if you ever visit this part of Japan. Lots of historical and cultural attractions and good shopping for those who like that kind of thing.

As for where I would choose to live, of the places I have been to I would probably go for the northern part of the South Island of New Zealand. The Abel Tasman trail is quite probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to.

Actually NZ looks a lot like Japan but without the concrete lined rivers, the rice fields and the additional 120 million people.

The Abel Tasman is beautiful, but the cost off living in NZ is ridiculous

Funny enough, I come from quite close to that area in the Carpathians. The views really are incredible. And still, since I was a kid I’ve imagined myself living in peace in a small old UK village, maybe by the sea and close to a national park, watching amazing sunsets, walking my dog.
We do tend to romanticize living in different places

Where ever I’ve lived, I’ve found good. From Asia, Europe and the US - every place has had something that has been appealing, endearing or thrilling. The people (fortunately and unfortunately) are the same everywhere so I guess I’m pretty good with where ever I am or end up.

p.s.
Being a fan of SiFi, the one thing I have always wondered about was living on another planet or on a world/generation ship headed for another star. That holds somewhat of a childish draw for me but it is just that.

Berlin I would say.

Three places in my life have felt home, wherever my parents were, Bournemouth and Berlin.

I would pick a deserted tropical island with no other fuckers around to annoy me

Aside from where I am already, I’ve always liked the look of Andorra. Just something about the place.

Back to Australia maybe? Dunno, @sbym risk too high maybe.

But then come on TAN and get annoyed anyway
