Who would you buy?

Recon he’ll be sold.

I’ll bet Arsenal don’t see Calafiori as a CB.

Yup. They’ve even said more as a LB than CB. He will be a Gomez/ben white type

He had 15 injuries in the last 4 years and missed more games than he played. His fitness level is the same as Konate’s. He will play LB, not CB. We don’t pay 40m+ for a backup LB in the same role and not significantly better than Gomez. I also have a bad feeling about Serie A. Average defenders like Tomori or Smalling easily dominate the league. Having one good season doesn’t guarantee anything imo.

Well Zubimendi has officially snubbed Liverpool now. And we have ZERO new signings in the window except maybe we get a 16 year old for the future. Just about 2 weeks left in the Transfer window. I’d start to get WORRIED now if I were Slot. We might not get any reinforcements for the first team this summer.

What if Slot is not worried? Because he does not NEED reinforcement, our squad has shown him that while not perfect is more than capable of winning. That Zubimendi is an opportunistic signing more than a NEEDED signing?

Don’t worry. We’ll just loan some injury-prone player in Jan’25.

After spending the whole season in the relegation zone.

Maybe not worried, but maybe surprised? His own words.

The thing is… if Slot’s method of training and style of play results in less injuries, we may also have less need for cover (if pre-season is anything to go by).

I can’t recall ever going into the season with a healthy squad.

Sign no one. Let’s go and win the league against all odds. It will taste sweeter at the end of the season.

I think we were only a week away from doing that 2 years ago then we lost 4 in a week and had to rush to find athur.

So what I’m saying, is hold onto your arsecheeks over the next couple of days

Carvalho £22.5m, Clark £10m, Solanke sell-on clause £7m, Luis Alberto sell-on clause £2m. That’s more than £40m profit generated this summer plus Thiago and Matip’s wages off the bill…

Don’t forget the sales of Salah to Al Saudihal for 100m, Diaz to Barca for 75m and Trent to Madrid for 80m which the twitter guru’s had everybody believed were done in June.

Xhaka was one of the most laughed at players in the PL and people wondered why Xabi signed him. New managers / head coaches need ‘their’ midfielder to implement their style.

Gravenberch doing great. Receiving the ball, doing some great movement and then quickly passing the ball.
But overall we’re losing the ball too often / too quickly.

Guess Zubimendi is much better than Gravenberch in keeping the ball, dictating play and playmaking.

That ship has sailed but i really hope we find a player with similar strengths or we might have to wait for the real Slot Ball until next year.

Give Grav some time. And the team as well.

We’ve always had the problem of giving up possession of the ball cheaply. Even when Klopp changed the play to a more possession style game. And often ended up in a half hearted gegenpress scenarios.

I’m not comparing Grav’s with Zubimendy or anyone.

But this is our first match with a new coach who’s got some tactical changes to make. Every coach needs that time given for the players to adjust.

Admittedly , it’s much easier for Slot to change Liverpool’s style of play than it was for Ralf Rangnick to change Man United’s style of play. I would think we’d get progressively better. Even minor improvements game after game would be fine (even those not perceptible to us)

As far as the topic goes.

A defender. Preferably left footed too who can play both at LB and LCB.

That takes the priority for me especially with Gomez looking likely to leave.
