Ibou and Robbo seem like they were quite close to Diogo as well (not at much as Kelleher)

Kelleher was probably the closest to him. As was ibou.

All three of them junior members of the team coming to the forefront around the same time. Natural that they become close.

Wake up and for a moment you don’t remember, then it punches you in the gut again.

Good bye Diogo, it’s been a pleasure.

His goal against Everton summed him up…a difficult situation, trying to break down their defence. His determination, skill and little bit of magic conjured up another win on the way to Number 20.

From our Number 20.
A microcosm moment of a special player. And an obviously special person.

This tragedy makes us all think. Our heroes are not bulletproof. They don’t avoid the things in life that cause pain or distress. They are ordinary people, though blessed with an extraordinary talent.

We love them. We moan about them. We want them out. We want them in. Their every touch of a ball, every run, every chance is dissected and analysed by us. Amateurs. That’s natural though. It means we care about the overall bigger picture. The success of our great club. Diogo added to that success.

Liverpool has endured tragedy beyond any other club. This tragedy serves to humble us all. From the top players to the avid supporters. We all share in the loss of a wonderful person.

That Everton goal is etched forever in my memory.
Rest in Peace Diogo. And thank you.

There’s an online book of condolences on the club website, just paid my respects.

Married 10 days ago and 3 kids… someone explain how life is fair?

Ibou nailed it for me : I would like to address the world: today it’s Diogo and his brother. Yesterday it was someone else. Tomorrow it could be us. Let’s enjoy every moment that life offers us, with our families, friends, even strangers. Let’s try to live in peace and
send each other love. We don’t know what tomorrow brings.

To quote Whitesnake: “The sun is shining, but it’s raining in my heart”

Feels like some cosmic joke, win our 20th title, and our No.20 passes away a few months later. The tributes from the players and staff have really hit home after the utter disbelief and trying to process it. He was living his dream life, successful on the pitch, marrying his childhood sweetheart and having three beautiful children off it to set him up for a lifetime of happiness and love from family and friends.

Ill be honest. I cant hear or read about it anymore. Its really done my head in.

It so odd as we don’t know him but he plays for the best club in the world that we all love so we really think we know him as he is part of the LFC family.

Like Rockstar’s we think Footballers are exempt from things like this and when it happens we are shocked to the core.

You think of how many people crash their cars everyday on m25 with fatal outcomes so why couldn’t that be a footballer/Rockstar - they have to drive to places but we just think its impossible.

Yesterday is a huge reminder that everyone is human and life is so fragile.
Just because you’re born there’s no rule that says you will live to 90.

The charity shield and 1st game of the season is going to be so emotional I cannot bear to think about it.

Football is also a way to escape the daily routine a little bit, now it feels like the opposite. Until yesterday it was the excitement for the new season etc. Now it’s only this.
