One year on, still as painful…Rest on Diogo…
I have to stop and step away from the video “In love and memory of Diogo | Remembering our lad from Portugal” when the caption showed the date of the loss, and the 3 scourers had to take stock before speaking further.
YNWA, Forever 20, Diogo.

Is it time to stop singing the song at 20mins this year?
I am not sure how distracting it is for the players. We will never forget him but I think it’s time…..
How do you even stop it? What, someone tells fans not to do it anymore? Even if the players did it, it would be wrong.
Let it be, if it continues or stops naturally with time.
I think there will eventually come a time when the players who played alongside him simply smile when they hear that song. It won’t be that painful anymore as time goes by, and the new players certainly won’t have an issue with it anyway. It will sort itself out naturally; there’s no on/off switch for that.
Edit
Ultimately, it will depend on the fans in the stadium and what they want to sing; I can’t imagine the club dictating that to them—unless Iraola wanted it to happen, which is something I also find completely implausible. If anything, it would have to come from the players themselves—for instance, if Virgil were to ask for it. But I think it will sort itself out eventually.
Yep its time. The club should put out a statement and say last season was great but its time to let the man rest in peace.
I veer between the club taking the lead to wind it down, or just letting it run its natural course. The problem with the latter is if singing on 20mins becomes expected, you are sort of duty-bound as no-one wants to do the wrong thing. At that point it just sort of continues to have a life of its own.
I might not be the most sentimental, but I think we did Diogo’s memory proud last season. I now hope we remove his empty place from the dressing room, if that hasn’t happened, and also leave the song behind as a lovely thing from last season.
I have to say when I saw the bus above, with Diogo splashed all over the back, it didn’t quite sit right with me.
Anyway, this is a difficult subject and I mean no offense to anyone if you have a different take.
I’m with you there.
It’s been a year.
Time to let go.
Life goes on.
Indeed that felt very strange to have Jota’s image on the back of the team buses. Not sure who came up with that idea. There is already a memorial officially in place at Anfield, the image on team buses felt out of place after 1 year on.
Disagree.
Espanol still honors the memory of Jarque till date
