Erling has been spectacularly amazing to the point where I have no words. ĂdegĂĽrd, fantastic in the games he has played, but so have so many others ! Finally, we have a GOOD team and not just a couple of fantastic individuals.
Italyâs recent WC record is weird (or non-existant) to be fair. Failed to qualify for the last two tournaments and went out in group stages in previous two. 1 WC win since they won it in 2006.
I think Norway qualifying was just a matter of time and especially with the format with more teams.
Sure, sure, but the Norwegian team is nothing like it was just 2 years ago. The improvement is extremely dramatic. You see it also in friendlies.
It did take StĂĽle Solbakken a fair time to get cohesion into the player group, but now it is more machine like and it hasnât been as cohesive as this since the 90s.
And that hasnât anything to do with individual player quality really (England a super good example of a team that used to have good individuals but a totally sucky team).
Yeah, for me, it was a matter of time before they would get the balance right and find âenoughâ quality (individual or collective) behind that attacking firepower to make it all work.
Whatâs the shape in attack, with Sorloth also starting? Does he play in a Salahesque role, inside right, or?
I would not say it is the same, he lays deeper in the centre usually to get the ball, as he is really good at holding it with his physique, but he doesnât have the speed of salah. But at other times, Solbakken changes it and then he is target man on top.
But usually, he is someone who sets up others due to his strenght. He has a lot of assists.
I am trying to find a bloody high quality diagram to post of how exactly Sørloth typically plays in both of Solbakkens formations, but I am totally failing at my google-fu at the moment. Shamefully so.
Anyway, he lays behind Haaland in the centre of the pitch, @Zoran
