It would be interesting if anyone had old Panini sticker albums.
I did go through a phase of collecting them, just after the 1978 World Cup.
Oddly enough, I did used to collect the Brooke Bond tea cards. The main reason for this, is that my father worked in the Port of Liverpool Building (the big domed building, 2 down from the Liver building) and he was on good terms with the tea lady. I do recall having a set of these:
I’m not sure what happened to them. Possibly one of my brothers kept them.
The nearest thing I have now to a sticker album is my WHO yellow vaccination book!
Yeah like most of us Panini sticker books were a big part of my entry into fandom. In a pre internet world it was how a 6 year old learned about all the teams and players.
But this thing by Orbis came out of no where and to this day is the single greatest product of its kind. It was so good and comprehensive that you simply couldnt do it again for a subsequent world cup without it being a pale imitation. The section on history’s best goals, most important games etc made it so much more than a normal sticker book.
