Nope on the BBC now
Absolute disaster, but I actually think CAF had to draw the line. Senegal walked off the field after a penalty, with no real consquences.
Brahim Diaz with his finger up like that, fuk ⌠real missed a trick tonight, shouldâve gave him the pen to take the piss out of donnarumma
Hard not to say this is a surprise (punishing Senegal). The whole tournament was marred by poor officiating (and a lot going the host nations way). CAF always end up with controversyâŚbut stripping them of the title seems a bit OTT.
Also note that the Womenâs AFCON, due to take place in Morocco was cancelled due to âunforseen circumstancesââŚwill it now be back on?
Moroccoâs prayers to Mike Pence to find the courage to do the right thing have paid off!
AFCON being AFCON.
That final was the single biggest disgrace in my lifetime.
Complete joke of a tournament, CAF is an embarrassment to the game. Bunch of corrupt officials bleeding a continent full of potential.
What is this CAF and can it strip City off those titles they cheated to win and hand them over to us?
What a total farce.
I canât see the Moroccan players being ecstatic, it will be a hollow victory for them. Senegal shouldnât have created a scene and walked off.
It looks bad for AFCON overall.
The worst is that while I was watching highlights what happened, my first thought was why didnât the ref decide 0-3 for Morocco and where was the limit to do it if he didnât do it then? Mane was one of the rare normal ones who tried to bring them back on the pitch.
Now itâs shite because itâs a huge blow for Senegal and even for Morocco, can you celebrate it properly?
Lack of clarity about some rules and lack of character to make them in the moment.
What did the Sengalese do to deserve that? I didnât see or read anything about that final.
Some of the comments on here:
âfarceâ
âSenegal should have walked offâ
'what did Senegal do to deserve thatâs
Guys, come on. Read into something before making judgements. Senegal walked off the pitch during the final because a penalty was awarded against them. That was a shocking dereliction instigated by their Head Coach who ought to have every license stripped from him for life. That was a complete shambles and Senegal deserve every sanction.
The only thing is the timing but one can understand the refs decision not to call the game and award the game to Morocco as he wanted resolution and a proper end to the game. Iâm pretty sure his heart sank into his boots when Diaz missed the penalty realizing that he had just opened Pandoraâs Box. From the Morrocan side; imagine being the penalty taker, having seen the opposition walk off and dealing with that uncertainty and then having to come back and take the most pressure loaded single kick of a ball he will likely have in his life. Thatâs not fair at all. Correct decision by CAF and Senegal should have the book thrown at them, their coaching staff and their players to boot.
Spot on it was soft but as I said at the time I can see it given in any league across Europe on any given weekend.
Itâs not even close to the worst 10 this season I have seen and my interest in football has waned as the season progressed.
Though I enjoyed the visits to QPR and Hertha Berlin.
They couldâve âeasilyâ awarded Morocco the win by 0-3 and if I was the head of the Senegalese FA, Iâd punish some of the members that talked the team into leaving the pitch (their coach was one of the main instigators of that, from what I saw), if not all of them. Itâs amazing where was the bloody match delegate, because the ref looked completely confused what to do. That lasted almost 20 minutes.
Senegal rightfully stood up in the face of corruption and have since been punished for that act, the officials did everything they could to ensure Morocco won. It was disgusting. The CAF can double down and dictate what they want but the footballing world saw what happened that day.
No you would absolutely not have ![]()
Ok daddy.

Yup itâs not that massively debatable itâs soft when in comparison to some but by some distance not the âmost shockingâ and âworst decisionâ ever.
It was probably more of a reaction to VAR giving the other goal from Morocco off a few minutes before which was also a goal.
If they had waited for the penalty then they would have had nothing to lose frankly.
Correct decision to strip Senegal of the title, but it shouldâve happened much sooner. Why has it taken 2 months?
