we both know that’s not going to happen. they’ll just throw enough money at the PR campaign for it to blow over.
Qatar 2022 - 6500 laborers dead. If this was anywhere else on earth, this would be plasted all over the news. Investigations, political implications, labour laws. But the middle east make their own rules and humans are as dispensable as toothbrushes to the wealthy.
I’ve no doubt that Amanda Staveley is just a pawn to them, a means for a corrupt government entity to have a lovely white woman as their figurehead in the Queen’s lands while they do their dirty work

I don’t doubt what you are saying, but do you have a link to the Qatar death total? I knew some stuff - bad conditions, passports taken away, so a form of slavery; and yes, I knew there were deaths too. 6500 is awful, and if you have a link I’d love to read more on that. Cheers.

While 6500 is the official figure (or was 7 months ago) the actual total is likely to be much higher as it does not include workers from some countries.
It why I will have absolutely nothing to do with the World Cup in 2022. I won’t watch and I won’t talk about it. It’s drenched in blood, and I want nothing to do with it. I wish more players would come put and decline to take part.

I’m 100% on board with this. I won’t mention it on social media, I won’t be following the results. This will be a indelible black mark on the sport, only second to what happened in Brazil.

Thanks for info. Yep, terrible business.
I will give some thought to a boycott too. I think I will do it, but don’t just want to say it casually.

Wouldn’t it be a better idea to have a message (Justice for the abused/killed workers) in your social media profile??? Silence doesn’t get you anywhere.

when it comes to stuff like this, I speak with my pocketbook. I used to pay for a LOT of sports channels. but then these rich atheletes start going on strike and shutting their leagues down for months at a time. millionaires fighting over money with billionaire owners. So I cut off all of my sports programming and watch highlights on the news or streaming. I only pay for DAZN.
the opposite of love isn’t hate… it’s indifference. I won’t waste my time on it.

Its time for the International bodies to pull out. Make FIFA understand that this cannot happen. It is equivalent of mass murder.

I agree. It will be the first World cup in my lifetime that I totally ignore. I refuse to engage with the farce.

Same for me. I have already started to ignore it by ignoring the qualifying games. Seriously, I couldn’t give a toss if Switzerland qualify for that tournament or not.
The only thing which would make me proud is if they qualified for it, and then decided to withdraw, but that won’t happen, because the Swiss federation is as incompetent and corrupt as any other football federation, and the players and coaches are as shortsighted as almost all others.
Almost. At least, the national team of Norway had the courage to pass on a message.
That was last march, but I don’t know what they have decided since then. Will they go if they qualify? Hopefully not. @Magnus, do you know?
Lol, they have reversed the traditional dress request so that they appear less like a dictator demanding. They can now “feel free” to wear cultural clothing.
We are inclusive to all! Let the washing commence.

1-1 do wonder about Palace blowing a bit hot and cold.
Oh boy, oh boy, Bin Laden (or whatever his name is) certainly didn’t wanted this publicity.

Well done the Palace fans.

They will go. The message on the shirts is the protest. The football association doesn’t think Norway is big enough and that enough people would care, if we boycott and etc. Because Norway is not Germany or France after all.
What cause would the polide have to be investigating that?

To ensure it made the national news?
If it could be inciting hatred against a particular group then that would be actionable.
I think it likely that no action will be taken by the police. The PL position, however, will be interesting.

Couldnt more fans do the same at every newcastle away game ?

I imagine they will. This was just the first away game since the takeover.
