Are there? I was just shooting the wind. Maybe the reports are on a similar basis?
As redfanman suggests, Tarkowski to Newcastle and Phillips to Burnley would probably suit everyone. Burnley rinse Newcastle for Tarkowski, Liverpool then get Burnley to overpay for Phillips.
I seem to remember that happening before…(Neymar/Coutinho ;))
Would kinda be payback for Carroll as well - added bonus.
Not sure quite how credible they are in sum, but enough speculation that I assume there is something there.
The downside of that scenario is that I’d really struggle seeing Phillips wearing Burnley kit. He is such a great story, and while it would be a sound career move, well…Burnley.
And then managed to maintain them in the top league, where they had absolutely no right to be. With a minimal budget. It’s in terms of big transfers that he got it wrong towards the end. Getting £17m for Ibeee was great for us, but not that great for them.
But in my book, he’s still one of the most promising English managers. Just let him work with a good sporting director, and he’ll do well.
He is one who is well too early to judge, I see him more of a Rodgers without the chip. As I said it will be interesting to see what he does. Will he take them to the title and the promised land? No, but could he put them on that road quite possibly.
And I say no because he does have a habit of running into bad spells and then getting out of them, clubs like Newcastle sadly don’t stick with managers that go that way. Potentially they would have got rid of Klopp last March, then there were a few on here who said he had reached the end.
No thanks. He is currently our 4th choice CB (based on first team selections to date) giving us a very strong CB unit and is far better than Nat (unless his injury has reduced him to below Nat’s level.) If he were to go to Newcastle, I would imagine it being a permanent deal for a big fee and pushed for by the players camp (rather than our club).
Whilst it is a nice thought, they are now here whether fans like it or not, so no avoiding it. All we can do is continue doing what is best for Liverpool, and if Gomez is not happy with the lack of game time, sending him to Newcastle would mean he is going there and would walk into that defence, so will be a regular whilst on loan, and would give us the chance to evaluate how he has recovered from his injury last season
I hope they sign Coutinho. It will be like Robinho singing for City. Absolute disaster.
I would be worried if they signed a low profile but efficient defender and midfielder to stabilize the ship. Avoid relegation built on a strong defence and midfield, and then go more expansive with the signing of Eddie plus attacking flair.
