Al-Sandcastle - the sportswashing barcodes

What’s the saying? It’s hard to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on not understanding it.

Nothing really to see in that.

He’s been asked a question and he’s responded in kind to clarify what Jurgen said.

The media really love a stir up between clubs and fanbases.

It’s a Newcastle press conference for Everton…so make it about that?

Klopp’s wrong to suggest there’s no ceiling at Newcastle, insists Eddie Howe, as one has recently been installed by East African slaves.

Newcastle fans will be even more toxic than Man City in a few short years.

Yeah I think I will give up on football if it goes the way of the hydrocarbon cheaters league

Hopefully the legal case brought by some Barcelona fans might have a big impact. They are saying Messi’s move to PSG violated European laws on State assistance.

Ultimately it is a means of trying to enforce FFP, or similar, and keep the Nation State clubs in check, financially.

It would be good to see fans do for the game what the custodians in authority could not, and protect it from the sports washers.

“have the decency to shut up at times, you’re a midget compared to this man”

I think a sidenote that Auclair picks up on there is that Howe’s comments seemed to intemate that he sees himself as one of the elite managers in world football now because he is the Newcastle manager - rather than the presentable stopgap while they establish themselves and inevitably hire Mourinho.

Maybe Howe really doesn’t see these things… Is he just thick as mince?

I’m going to be looking for more from this fella. Talks a lot of sense.

Who is he?

French journalist who is a regular on The Guardian Football Weekly. Hes one of the better ones, particularly when it comes to discussing UEFA corruption and issues of ownership.

…with repeated chants of ‘Eddie Howe’s black and white army’,
‘E-I-E-I-E-I-O, up the premier league we go’

How F***in lame is that chant eh :joy:

One sad aspect of all this is I’m really starting to dislike Newcastle, and that is only going to grow.

That’s a shame, because I used to have a bit of a soft spot for them. I liked the Keegan team, and we had some epic battles against them. And going back a generation earlier my dad told me stories of going to watch the reds in the cup final against Newcastle (was that 1974?)

Anyway, a perfectly good football club has now been hijacked for ulterior motives by a horrible regime, and while some of their fans won’t like it, the rest won’t care, and/or they will accumulate a lot of fair weather friends as they rise up.

We have been significantly let down by the custodians of the game.

Your dad will have remembered Tommy Smith putting the frighteners on that big mouth Malcolm McDonald then…
Yeah, they finished as a decent club of any sort in my eyes also

It’s interesting taking my son to “soccer” practice and seeing a couple of kids wearing Man City shirts.

I wonder how many kids I’m going to start seeing in Newcastle gear in the coming years.

I’m an evangelist for Liverpool. I coached my lads team for a few years and would tell the Man City and Chelsea kids what’s what, and a couple of them switched over from the dark side!

Makes me sick seeing it though, and I’m sure Newcastle will be everywhere soon enough.
