LFC is acting as sales agent in relation to the Event being staged at the Venue. All tickets are owned by, and issued on behalf of, the organisation responsible for the performance or event to which the sale relates (Promoter). Details of the Promoter are as follows:
Pretty sure the club’s making the revenue.
In the same vein , there’s nothing stopping the Saudis from gifting 200M to newcastle in exchange for say them playing matches in an empty St James’s Park.
These scum are utilizing the loopholes which the PL have left.
I do get the Tottenham Stadium will have those advantages but none of the other London stadium will hold a candle in terms of history etc to hosting a concert in Wembley.
As I understand it, Newcastle own St James Park, so if an international is to be played there, then Newcastle would be paid a fee for the use of the stadium, so would be classed as income for the club
They dont have to, just sell tickets/ pocket fees for use of stadium. London has a much bigger population than Liverpool etc and is home to far more and bigger companies. Wembley and WHL wont always be available or suitable for every event.
And that’s the flaw. Its a similar loophole as a “company” paying way over the odds to become the official water bottle sponsor. It’s blantent financial manipulation.
Most clubs do it, hence why Spurs do so many giggs and boxing matches at Wwhite Hart Lane, Wembley do NFL games, Emirates do a lot of Brazil friendlies - it is extra revenue for the club
But it shouldn’t count towards spending power of the club for FFP purposes. If that’s allowed then Newcastle can host an event every single day and claim an unlimited revenue stream.
There must be limitations on what kind of revenue is included as commercial revenue.
It’s a loophole they didn’t account for. A failure of imagination I think. Fair market value regs mean owners cannot host a fake seminar there and pay the club 100m for it. But they never had the imagination to prevent them doing 1 million fake seminars for 100 quid deals
The catch to that would be the damage done to the pitch and how could that effect the form of Newcastle?
That is why Klopp has never been too keen on hosting too many things particularly during the season as he wants the pitch to be given as much time as possible for the ground staff to get the pitch ready for the next game.
Doesn’t have to be on the pitch. They can claim to have a corporate event everyday, with 100 people showing up each person paying £100 and that they each then spent £200 on food and drink - that’s £10m.
