Well , like others have mentioned , change the green to white and hey presto you now have the Taliban flag. (The Saudi one is actually worse , at least the Taliban don’t have a fucking big sword underneath it
presumably to remind everyone of their penchant for chopping off the heads of non-believers.)

You really had to ask ?

The only thing that made me realise it’s just a joke is “Oh wait, they’re not in the PL”. Says it all

What would there be to stop them if they did ? Football crossed a line yesterday , it’s open season now.

Yesterday??

Well , an even fucking worse line.

Loved the DIC according to the rumours

Here’s hoping that the rest of the prem fans show some class whenever Newcastle come to town, would be great to see lots of pride flags and Yemeni flags.

What’s wrong with a religious state quoting a piece of their holy scripture on their flag?

Shahada is an Islamic oath and is the first of the Five Pillars of Islam found in the Quran which reads: “I bear witness that none deserves worship except God, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God.”

Should we object to being paid in dollars?

Or remove the wording around the edge of pound coins?

There doesn’t appear to be anything inherently objectionable in the wording of the Shahada itself so why the particular opposition to it?

i can imagine its becuase Newastle is so inherently English that its a problem.

the Saudis arent buying bonds, they are buying english heritage.

its not a point based around accpetance, i think its a bit unfair to paint anyone with objections to that flag and its inferences as being racist idiots who have no cconcept of irony.

or in Aussie terms
youve come to my backyard for a barby mate, so its my rules for the backyard cricket, not yours.

With respect, I think this goes considerably further than just an observation about cultural differences.

yes of course it does.

but an oil rich arab state buying an English football club from a distinct ‘working class’ demographic will draw those paralells. nothing wrong with that.

its not like the Saudis have a long lost affiliation with Newcastle
or even football in general.

we have a right to be suspicious, resnetful and vitriolic on so many differnet metrics.

this is shite for football.

What the fuck kind of twisted logic is this? Saudi Arabia as a country has existed way before the Taliban came into existence. You’re going to hate on an entire nation because someone copied the flag?

Doesn’t the Essex county flag have swords on it? Are we going to start hating everyone from Essex as well now?

I agree with that entirely, but we don’t have a right to be racist.

is conservative muslim a race?

Not technically but I was using racism in its broader meaning to encompass nationality.

There’s 35 million Saudi’s. Generalizing about 35 million people based on a flag or based on a few individuals is racist

The objection was directed to the flag of Saudi Arabia and the religious text that appears on it. That (objection) I have an issue with.

If the objection is instead directed towards the abuses of the repressive regime, then I’m on board entirely.

pretty sure he wasnt generalizing about 35 million people. just the ruling family
who, by the way, are spunking a big wad of the peoples money on a vanity purcchase that wont see any return for
well
probably ever.

Why do you have an objection with the religious text? It’s the faith of the people in the country. Why is that an issue for you?
