Surprised at the Newcastle fans and the ex players ringing endorsements of this not a note of caution form any of them. As GermenRed said, really hope they go down, would be hilarious. Money doesnāt guarantee success, letās hope this is more QPR than Man City!
Well to answer my own question: I support Liverpool football club for more than 30 years, all that time I had zero influence who the owner was and I will keep supporting them whoever the owner will be.
Those symphaties are overrated anyway I think. A little bit āgayā. I guess all set of fans have their % who would react like that. Wouldnāt give so much importance to it; get too excited when I hear a nice reaction or too disappointed when itās not.
Itās like Newcastle get that sympahty from a lot of us and nobody really canāt put a finger on why exactly. I liked the fact that theyāre so āblack & whiteā in so many things. No balance, no stability, no consistency. Isolated one club city, probably making themselves bigger than they really are.
Not like they won anything or got anywhere near to trophies, but the idea of someone taking over there was always an interesting prospect.
But Iād first wait 1-2-3 years to see how it looks like before predicting something big. Itās not a Football Manager game.
I think if players want to go to Newcastle, they should have to watch videos of the Saudi authorities torturing politic dissidents. If they have the stomach for that, sound.
Itās certainly going to put a new spin on the new player announcement videos. Person chained to a chair in blue fatigues. Hood removed with a flourish to reveal the identity of their new signing.
They all seem to have turned a blind eye when they joined City. Cash and the prospect of silverware seems to wipe any morals clean away.
I do suppose the players are all young, without any real knowledge of wider world issues, but then I look at the likes of Sterling championing the issues faced by black players and people in society with one hand while accepting a fat check (US spelling) from Abu Dhabi with the other.
Maybe the UK government stepped in all quiet on this one? "Hey PL people, allow this deal to go through, weāve got a few hundred missiles to sell to these people, this message will self destruct in 5 seconds. "
