Al-Sandcastle - the sportswashing barcodes

Totally with you there. We should really cherish the remaining time with him.

It would be nice if football showed some common sense and solidarity and all clubs just refused to sell to them. But that wonā€™t happen.

Guys
This is the most abjectly depressing thought I have read, more so in the way it probably sums up how I really feel.

Surprised at the Newcastle fans and the ex players ringing endorsements of this not a note of caution form any of them. As GermenRed said, really hope they go down, would be hilarious. Money doesnā€™t guarantee success, letā€™s hope this is more QPR than Man City!

Itā€™s not going to happen, the flood gates are openā€¦

The next in many, the EPL will within 5 years all have owners sportswashingā€¦

Why does the flag of Saudi Arabia offend you so much?

Well to answer my own question: I support Liverpool football club for more than 30 years, all that time I had zero influence who the owner was and I will keep supporting them whoever the owner will be.

Those symphaties are overrated anyway I think. A little bit ā€œgayā€. I guess all set of fans have their % who would react like that. Wouldnā€™t give so much importance to it; get too excited when I hear a nice reaction or too disappointed when itā€™s not.

Itā€™s like Newcastle get that sympahty from a lot of us and nobody really canā€™t put a finger on why exactly. I liked the fact that theyā€™re so ā€œblack & whiteā€ in so many things. No balance, no stability, no consistency. Isolated one club city, probably making themselves bigger than they really are.

Not like they won anything or got anywhere near to trophies, but the idea of someone taking over there was always an interesting prospect.

But Iā€™d first wait 1-2-3 years to see how it looks like before predicting something big. Itā€™s not a Football Manager game.

So itā€™s not murderers that bother you. Its Arabic murderers?

This thread has had a few remarks like this that are too close to the mark.

Disappointing.

Surely the players will push moves there as well once the cash starts being flashed.

I think if players want to go to Newcastle, they should have to watch videos of the Saudi authorities torturing politic dissidents. If they have the stomach for that, sound.

Canā€™t understand why youā€™re being racist.

That flag represents 35 million people. Thereā€™s no need for your racism.

Itā€™s certainly going to put a new spin on the new player announcement videos. Person chained to a chair in blue fatigues. Hood removed with a flourish to reveal the identity of their new signing.

They all seem to have turned a blind eye when they joined City. Cash and the prospect of silverware seems to wipe any morals clean away.

I do suppose the players are all young, without any real knowledge of wider world issues, but then I look at the likes of Sterling championing the issues faced by black players and people in society with one hand while accepting a fat check (US spelling) from Abu Dhabi with the other.

Maybe the UK government stepped in all quiet on this one? "Hey PL people, allow this deal to go through, weā€™ve got a few hundred missiles to sell to these people, this message will self destruct in 5 seconds. "
