Unfortunately, thatās a true story. I read about it a while ago. Apparently, this kind of thing is common in South America. Alexis will probably be able to get over it, but I canāt really understand why they canāt reach an out-of-court settlement. Itās a lot of unnecessary fuss right now, but maybe his ex wants it that way, too. Especially since thereās a baby on the way. Hopefully, this will be resolved by the time the season starts.

They werenāt married. But itās probably easier on him to give money rather than face a continued legal process.
No, they werenāt married; they lived together here in England during their time in Brighton. A broken marriage vow or something like that is apparently still a serious matter in Argentina. And on top of that, thereās a lot of money involved.
A silent agreement should have been reached several months ago; this has been dragging on for a very long time. The drama began shortly after the World Cup.
Maybe she thinks she can get more money out of him with higher publicity and seeks to turn it into a big scandal, to get a better settlement. Cynical, but there are many such people.
