Similar to Alisson when he was just a kid…
I think the last one impresses me the most. Shows awareness.
I assume Becker stole the last grilled meat off the barbecue and the Brazilian manager has hated on him ever since.
Any updates? Hopefully not too serious. If Kelleher is to be our first choice for a while, maybe Jaros gets his debut in the Union SG game.
I’m not sure whether the lack of information is a good or bad sign. We wouldn’t expect him to be playing on Thursday anyway but we would expect him on the bench, so I expect Klopp will say something at the presser.
Do you know what happened exactly? Was it a knock or a strain? The City players seemed to be targeting him so it could be a knock to the thigh. I had a thigh contusion after my accident in October and there is still a lump there but it isn’t painful.
At least with Kelleher playing anyway on Thursday he will have time to get up to speed. However, I would be tempted to play him with a strong defence.
I’m not too concerned with Ali missing a couple of weeks. Kelleher is an able deputy. More concerned about Jota being out for an extended period…again!
Do they even bother giving a Thiago update anymore?
Well there is no update. He’s so crocked he may as well buy a house in Croxteth.
I feel the opposite. Alisson has been excellent again this season and Kelleher hasn’t been very convincing when he’s played. We’ll be more far more vulnerable at the back.
Jota’s position on the other hand could be filled by Nunez and Gakpo, not to mention the usual starter, Diaz.
Alisson has been our best player for the last 18 months or so.
Kelleher is a decent #2 but he is a massive downgrade. That alone could quite easily cost us a few points, tbh.
Ali’s influence can’t really be overstated.
Aye. It’s arguable that Jota even starts if healthy. There is a BIG drop off from Ali simply because he is the best in the world and so suited to the way we play. We should be able to cope for 2 weeks but Kelleher is not exactly Mr ironman himself. We’re not too far away from the prospect of Adrian starting and a kid with 0 experience on the bench during a run of key games at the end of Dec
Whilst true, i think there are extenuating circumastances. He plays here and there so hard to get rhythem, and when he does play its in a team thats usually missing key players from the starting 11. Having 3-4 games in a row with the strongest players on the field with him should result in an improvment in his performances.
Re jota, i dont disagree with the fact we have plenty of attacking options, but he keeps missing weeks at a time. It never seems to be minor strains.
I think we got a bit lucky here, sounds like he will miss a couple of the lower league sides shame it’s not the league cup next week.
Yes Kelleher is a downgrade but I said if we got him back for Arsenal and Man Utd it would be ok and it seems that’s the diagnosis.
The concern isn’t particularly with Kelleher in those games (I think he has had a few games this season which will help) it’s if he gets injured.
On the other hand, I think part of his influence is that our defenders have too much confidence in him and let their own concentration slip. A couple of weeks emphasizing team defence as we head into the Christmas fixtures might help this side down the stretch. I’d still much prefer to have Alisson, but a possible silver lining.
. He had the worst game I’ve seen him play on Saturday, and still made 2 great saves that got us a draw
It’s not his quality at stopping teams score that is an issue, it is with the ball at his feet that he offers up a chance every now and then
My first game at anfield on Fulham and I wont get to see Ali
I think we should be winning the next few games anyways, hopefully Kelleher wont be a deciding factor. The good thing compared to Adrian is that we can play our normal game as the lads have confidence with Kelleher using his feet
