Yup it is likely he will get an injury every season due to this. I would keep him with an extension but just to allow Marna a year and a bit to get ready.
Not from here, not as his age.
The injury last night looks like it was a result of having to sprint to deal with the fuck up from Konate. As great as Ali is, occasionally you need your keeper to actually run.
Konate was having a nightmare game, but it doesnt really matter what led to the incident because ultimately it was just routine goal keeping and something popped. This is who he has been for a couple of seasons now.
I genuinely start feeling the actual fear whenever I see him sprinting or seeing trying to clear a ball that is being passed to him first-time. Iām sure Iāve seen him get injured doing each of those actions multiple times, and itās a crying shame because weāre talking about one of the very best and the most complete goalkeepers weāve seen in world football, quite possibly the best to put on a Liverpool shirt. I wonder if his susceptibility to injuries was a part of the pitch to Mamardashvili and his representatives during the discussions about a move to Liverpool.
Out till November apparently suggested Hamstring which is about right for that time frame due to the break as well.
Hopefully better news on Hugo.
It might be a blessing in disguise for us (hear me out) to give Marmadashvili an extended run of games for us, handling the pressure of featuring for us in massive games on a regular basis. Itās great for us that heās had 4 tough years under his belt at Valencia, seen as one of the best upcoming GKās and one of the best GKās too. Replacing a legendary goalkeeper in Alisson is the next step, and showing you can do it too, so thereās no better time really than now.
As for Alisson, itās one of those where weāre lucky to have him playing for us when available, but we canāt count on him to be fit for the entire season. It is what it is, but thankfully, the club prepared for the long term.
Thatās what I meant by āoccasionally you need your goalkeeper to actually runā
I thought the same thing, and Mamardashvili should be looking at this as a massive opportunity.
I think Alissonās contract situation is that he has this year, plus an option for another year. I donāt think the club buy Mamardashvili if they donāt at least entertain the idea of letting Ali go this summer.
Up to Gio to put pressure on that decision.
Time for the new dude to step up and show if he is good enough
Aliās missed 20 league games over the past two seasons, so with Kelleherās contract situation and willingness to go somewhere to play regularly, it was definitely smart from us to think about the future and add another āseriousā goalkeeper. That said, Ali still has a lot to say I think, so weāll see.
Alisson is likely to return after November NT break. That means Mamardashvili will feature in eight games including some real big ones. Great opportunity to prove your pedigree.
A great opportunity to learn to pronounce Mamardashvili too.
In fairness to Konate whilst his was a pretty big fuck up the whole situation arose because Alisson played the wrong pass initially. Longish pass out to Frimpong who was coming back towards goal out by the touchline. Poor touch from him and the ball got turned over but Alisson had two other shorter passes with those players less likely to be pressured.
But then in fairness to Ali he probably wanted the ball further from goal as we kept making stupid mistakes, poor passes or turning the ball over at the slightest sign of pressure.
Ultimately this is our problem at the moment. One error is compounded by the series of errors that then follow the first. Thereās just a lack of composure and itās rippling nervousness through the team resulting in silly errors.
