And that’s just the forename. Imagine some trying to pronounce surnames when they are as gaeilge

I can read five out of eight of these and I grew up surrounded by three and four leaf clover, can I qualify as Irish?

Noticed a guy using an Irish name handle - Pint O’Guinness :0)

Irish orthography - any pair or triplet of consonants that you cannot figure out how to pronounce is probably a ‘v’ sound.

1.25 million? Good luck getting to the bar.

Why are there so many in Argentina?

How many generations back does this count? Does it include the Bostonians whose great, great grandfather once drank a Guinness?

Irish left British rule in the 18C and often chose Spanish colonies. Chile’s national liberation hero is Bernardo O’Higgins, born in Chile to an Irish family that had fled after the end of the Jacobite struggle. Lots of families like that Argentina that go much further back than the MacAllisters

When we fought while on holidays, we didn’t just do it because we were drunk, we might have been drinking but that’s not why we were fighting. :joy:

Didn’t we have a hand in setting up Argentinas navy?

Founded by William Brown, born in County Mayo. The Spanish destroyed his Montevideo-based shipping business, so he became a partisan of independence.

and how many Irish live in Ireland???

On the actual island of Ireland it is about 7.1 million. By comparison, the population levels before the 1845 potato famine was about 8.5 million.

Roy Curtis with an eloquent and impassioned plea to stop the match vs Israel.
Time for Government, FAI and players/supporters to make a stand. FIFA need to be schooled on this.

The Taoiseach should boycott the White House shamrock ceremony on St Patricks Day.
Trump paid more attention to Cinor McGregor last year, heaping insult on the highest political post in our country.

Ireland should boycott the Israel match. Accept the consequences and move on.

President Connolly’s International Womens Day speech concerning the war raged on Iran should be tattooed on Trumps forehead.

I agree but Martin just wouldn’t do that.Last year i think the event took place before paddys day, wheras mcgregor and his family were in the white house on the 17th.That shows how little trump thinks about the relationship with us,our Taoiseach and St Patricks Day.We’ve seen how he treats allies the same as you would an enemy, imagine how far he would go if the Taoiseach was to snub “him” even if he couldn’t care less about snubbing our highest political post in favour of that a******e mcgregor.

Micheal Martin is putting the economy before all our ideals, even his own.I’d say most every leader whos economy relies heavily on american investment would do the same.I’m not condoning what the Taoiseach will do but i doubt even the shinners would decide to not go,no matter what they might say.

Regarding the Isreal game,we definitely should not play them even if it costs us 6 points and a fine or whatever.I think we should also boycott the world cup this summer should we get there.
