Starting against Israel, not surprising considering he is the skipper.

First assist for Scotland in his 43th cap.

Another 90 minutes. Incredible endurance from this guy.

Do they had to play him the whole 90 mins? Against Faroe Islands?

Was thinking the same last night.

Itā€™s time to sit Robbo for a breather. He has ground himself into dust.

Either Tsimikas is pure shit or heā€™s not picking something up in the system that he canā€™t get any minutes. Itā€™s bordering on abuse how much Robbo has played and been relied on. Tsimikas was signed for a reason. Time for him to actually earn some of those wages heā€™s been collecting all this time.

With 8 crucial PL games + the CL Iā€™d say fuck it.

We need him even if he is just able to perform at 80% (which is better than most of the others).

Motivation has to come from somewhere else - maybe the whole group should start think about the near future of the club - which is also their near future.

Itā€™s about personal sacrifices.

If he gets injured he gets injured. Couldnā€™t care less about Scotland at the EUROs.

The manager should squeeze them out until there nothing left.

We should never do if thereā€™s a dangerous risk involved. We have him for the next couple of years, not the next couple of games. If we depend that much on Andy Robertson, then weā€™re seriously f*cked. Of course Klopp will try to squeeze everything he can from the final 10 games or so. Itā€™s what we do all the time.

I wonder why Tsimikas hasnā€™t been played since his return to fitness. Itā€™s obvious that Robertson is roasted, but somehow, Klopp doesnā€™t want to use the Greek. I find this a bit bewildering to be honest.

Heā€™s just back from yet another injury, maybe he will play this weekend.

Because weā€™ve already had such an unstable, chaotic situation at CB and to a lesser extent CM. Klopp hasnā€™t wanted to risk increasing that by rotating the FBs too.

And Milner played high octane stuff in midfield against the Arse, and when Andy was subbed when we were in full control of the game, Tsimikas didnā€™t come on with Milner going left back.

Tsimikas has been on the bench in most games since the start of the year. he couldnā€™t even get one minute in the FA cup against Man Utd.

And yet the time has come, that Klopp will probably start Tsimikas agianst Villa. He really shouldā€™ve played a few minutes here and there by now> other than one game, he has spent most of the time on the bench.

I agree that Klopp didnā€™t want to further disrupt the back line, but to get next to no minutes is baffling.

The only reason I can think of is due to playing both our 4th and 5th choice CBs who are 20 and 22, and have fuck all experience between them.

I wonder if VVD and one of Gomez or Matip were fit, how much would we have seen of him

Weā€™d surely have seen more of him if our regular CBs had played, but why wasnā€™t he thrown in for a few minutes at least here and there?

Not blaming Klopp, but his substitutions have always been a bit iffy. Even when a game is safe he would substitute the forwards and midfielders. I feel, he feels that rather than substituting Robertson (or TAA), lowering the tempo would conserve their energy but maintain the solidity.

posted the below in the Klopp thread, probably deserves to be posted here.

i dunno if i buy into the line about VVD and Gomez impacting Tsmikas game time

i get the theory, i understand the concept.

i just think its overstated.

if anything, it should have meant resting Andy was absolutely a priority. that he hasnt been trusted -even after the leagues gone- is telling in my book ESPECIALLY because the defence is so threadbare. its the opposite of a reason for him not to play.

hes an able body at a time when it should be all hands on deck.

reminds me (stretch of the imagination here required) a bit of the Dani Pacheco conundrumā€¦the amount of reasons i drummed out that he wasnt getting game time was getting ridiculous, when the whole time, the truth was staring me in the face, i just didnt want to accept it.

Iā€™m not sure you can compare him to Dani Pacheco. Dani was still very young when we signed him. Tsmikas is not far off coming into his prime years - already 24, has been a regular in both the Dutch and Greek leagues and is a full Greek international.

My view is the injuries to VVD, Gomez and Matip have had their effect as that has already created a fairly major upheaval in our defence, which has spread to midfield as Fab and Hendo have been pulled away from where they were both so influential for us last season. Throwing in a new LB would only create bigger issues - sticking with TAA and Robbo on the flanks at least provides some stability in the defence.

There is so much about this weird season that we have to give allowances for. Neco is in the same boat as Kostas. Theyā€™d have both got starts had Virgil and Joe been present and correct.

Cheers. Thatā€™s exactly what I was doing.
