I get what youâre saying, and yes, that would be selfishly good for us.
But letâs just remember that Andy is a proud Scot and the captain of Scotland. A nation which last qualified for the Euros in 1996 and the World Cup in 1998.
Itâs been a generation since theyâve last played in a major international tournament. And when they do qualify, theyâve never made it past the first round. Thatâs what theyâll be aiming for.
So though Iâd love Andy to rest as a Liverpool fan, from a personal perspective, I hope he has an amazing tournament.
I donât remember a lot of our players who played so much, in such a physically demanding position, but yet coped so consistently well.
Hopefully it doesnât affect his career long term, maybe burning out earlier than normally. Hopefully next season with more stability in CB positions, we can give him more rests.
Weâll see if thatâs with Tsimikas or someone else.
I remember him giving an interview where he shared that he was playing through injury for long periods. Got a horrible feeling that it may catch up with him at some point in the future.
Letâs hope that his genes enable him to play at this level of intensity for a long time.
Thankfully the remaining games have 5-7 days gaps between them. Hopefully thatâs enough to see us over the line. Maybe, maybe, Klopp will allow Tsimikas 10 mins in those games as well.
I donât know what will happen against Burnley and Crystal Palace but this interview made me look at the bigger picture. If this is the culture that Klopp has engrained into Liverpool, if this is something that is present throughout every age category, something that can be kept up even after he and these players leave, then sign me up for another hundred years of supporting the club. I probably wonât live that long, if age, sickness or something else doesnât get me, they surely will!
